It is not weird at all. As a matter of fact, it can be a sign that the person is concerned by a number of things, among them, pollution, risk of accidents, useless expenses and a number of other arguments.
Most youngsters nowadays lease expensive cars to show off, to brag but don't have the necessary funds to afford that car. Furthermore, electric cars are in no way better than those working on gasoline. Both pollute excessively.
Those that come with the argument that electric cars don't pollute, think again and inform yourself about how lithium in the batteries are obtained and how entire areas are destroyed so that a megalomaniac like Elon Musk can make more profits on the back of those that suffer from his greed.

Depends where you live. I grew up in the country. In something legitimately classified as a village. We were 5 miles outside of the nearest town and a 30 minute drive on the highway away from any semblance of a downtown. And even then, that city only had 200,000 people in it.
It would be extremely impractical to not have a car. There's no such thing as public transportation there. The "big" city barely has anything and whatever it does have certainly does not go to my home town. If you didn't have a vehicle your dating chances were slim to none.
If you live in a big city with a healthy and reliable public transportation system then the lack of a vehicle is something that can be overlooked.
