Assuming you mean cigarettes, right? I've not smoked them though I did used to do hookah and use a vaporizer. I simply decided I'm done with hookah maybe a year or two ago. I threw it out (we had a super cheap one so it wasn't a big deal to me to just throw it out). I gave away my vape pen. It's probably harder for people who smoke cigarettes throughout every day, though, since I wasn't doing it that often. Still, I had gotten to the point where I was doing hookah almost every night.Sorry if this isn't very helpful. Not really sure what to say. It's definitely tough to stop with certain habits. I think you have to just keep your mind distracted. The longer you go without, the easier it becomes. Eventually you forget what drugs even made you feel like.
Only cigarettes... But I'm under a lot of stress. It's kind of an escape route to me. I have no idea what to do...
Well the vape pen would be a less unhealthy alternative if you wanted to try it. It's only like 10% as unhealthy as a cigarette. Still not good to do it but far less bad. Then maybe you could start buying "e-liquid" with less nicotine in it over time? You can get e-liquid with no nicotine so you could even try to cut out the nicotine separately and then you could work on stopping with the vape pen at all (because to me, the urge to smoke/vape in general is separate from the specific urge to have nicotine).Ultimately you either try to find ways to ween off of cigarettes, or you just go cold turkey even though it's not easy to do.Even though I didn't specifically smoke cigarettes, having previously enjoyed hookah, I can promise you that at some point if you go without cigarettes you'll stop wanting one.
Also, is there anything you might be able to do to help lower your stress levels?
I think I can take antidepressants to reduce stress. also what is cold turkey?
It's a phrase that means just quitting immediately. You just decide one afternoon, you know what, no more cigarettes. I'm done.Antidepressants could help with stress but can you think of any ways that your stress could go down without medication? Are you going through problems in life or is it kind of a situation where you feel stressed all the time even when there is no obvious reason? (please note I am not a doctor so take any "medical advice" I give with that in mind)
I have a very busy life. my lessons are very heavy. I have a scary exam in front of me and I think I will be prepared for this one year. I don't have time for any hobbies.
You don't have time for hobbies? How much time do you spend with schoolwork? Is this a cultural thing? Sorry, I don't know much about Turkey or its culture. I'd like to give you some suggestions though I'm not sure I understand the situation enough to help you. I hope you figure it out. Is seeing a therapist an option in your area? Would you be interested in that?
Did you understand that I'm in Turkey? I was told you?
If I hover my mouse over your name, it says Turkey. You can hide that information in your profile, I believe, if you don't want us to know where you are from.
Does this site have such a feature? How can I prevent it?
Hmm I just tried to edit my country out (by going to "My Profile") and it actually doesn't seem to save if I unselect a country (i. e. I click on the top item of the list which says "Select"). So maybe you can't? You could just pick a different country to prevent people from knowing the real answer. You could submit a support ticket to the site staff asking this question. I'm not an expert on how to use this site, sorry.
I'm using app and shows nothing about countries.
I've never used the app so I have absolutely no idea how it works. It has to have an edit profile option somewhere I would think. Otherwise you could use the website instead. To get to your profile on the website you hover over your name at the upper right. A list pops down and you click "Edit Profile"
Will you try again? Is this time also says Turkey?
yes it still says it. My original thought was that you could unselect the country on that profile page, but it wouldn't let me save my profile that way. So I'm not sure what else to suggest (unless you want to just pretend you're from the US or some other country). Sorry.
anyway. I think I will not be exposed to a racist approach. Thanks
I'm not sure what you mean. I hope nothing I said sounded racist.
I'm not sure what you mean. I hope nothing I said sounded racist. Nothing you said sounded racist.
Oh sorry my keyboard was broke...
I had a friend who was a member here. and those who insulted because he was Turkish. I would not want to meet something like this in the future. (And ı use translate, so I copied the wrong thing.)
Oh, sorry to hear that about your friend. I don't think most people here will dislike you for that. Most people here seem nice enough to me.My sister recently did one of those DNA tests to find out where your ancestors are from... unexpectedly, it told her that we're like 20% Turkish. Not sure if those tests are accurate or not. But was not expecting that, haha. We're not sure who in our family might have come from Turkey. But our dad was adopted.
Turks have immigrated throughout history. I guess it's a little hard to find your ancestors.
I've tried smoking once but I didn't like it so I never tried again. If you want to quit, that isn't going to be easy so like I'm not sure. But, try not to have it like at your house and like stay away from friends who do, distract yourself from it like keep yourself occupied or like wear a rubber and around your wrist and like pull it once you feel like smoking as like a punishment, I guess and yeah.
I never smoked..I knew how addictive it is.. Your body has this line of defense against smoking.. Which you can't tolerate.. But once you start smoking you can tolerate smoking and get addicted to smoking and even if you overcome that addiction.. That line of defense is gone.. Leaving you at huge risk to start smoking again
You need to read a book called "Hooked"60% of our brain activity is our habits..And smoking is a addictive habit.. See how your brain operates and find something that gives you better addiction than smoking. And use that addiction to overcome smoking.. I am doing same.. I am addicted to gaming.. But now sketching beautiful girls with their permission helps me snap out of gaming
You can swap it for a less damaging addiction like vaping. Or just use willpower to smoke less every day until you stop. There isn't a magic fix unfortunately you just have to be strong minded.
I'm under a lot of stress. It's kind of an escape route to me. I have no idea what to do.
Everyone is stressed, every addict loves their addiction. You have to want to quit and have the willpower to follow through, that's it. There are books that might help but really it's down to youm
I know... Thankd
Yes I do smoke and no I don't really want to stop lol.
I smoke too and while I dont really have any advice I do want to stop as well
There are free resources to quit smoking. Check at your local pharmacy.
Yeah I smoke for a long time quit on and off a few times very hard thing to do
I don’t smoke. What are you addicted to?
Ah ok. Try and ease out of it over time. You can do it!
Just stop and don't do it again, simple
Nah... Not simple
It is very simple
Not for me. I don't want it but I'm addicted.
Yes so stop doing it
