Apparently they couldn't get my top ones. But both bottoms are bye-bye
Ouch! So you’re swollen up on both sides and can’t really chew anywhere. :( I had all 4 taken out at once, it wasn’t too fun but at least you only have to do it once that way... Well anyway, you can generally reduce swelling/inflammation before it happens by icing, but you kind of missed the boat on that. Most mild painkillers are NSAIDs which are anti-inflammatory. Your orthodontist/oral surgeon probably prescribed an opiate pain killer mixed with an NSAID for just that purpose. So you probably are taking something like Combunox which is a mix of oxycodone hcl and ibuprofen an NSAID. In the future if you have any swelling due to an injury an easy thing to remember is to RICE it… RICE is an acronym in first aid which stands for Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate. Obviously when you are injured to the point of swelling such as a sprained ankle you want to keep stress away from the injury so you stay off it and rest, you slow the swelling with ice, you compress the affected area to keep swelling under control, and you elevate it so that blood can drain back to the heart more easily.
