If you want to think of this in terms of calories in/out, then we are focusing on output more than the input. You seek the path of least resistance in your life and your output will plummet with age until you struggle with softness while barely eating anything. You seek the path of maximal resistance, and you find yourself combatting that aging process. Women with six-packs past 40 typically have a fighting spirit to them. Their struggles are not with ice cream cravings or access to the finest gyms. They are fighters, carving their bodies through paths of maximum resistance.
