Am I the only one who has doubts about water helping with weight loss?

So, I drink TONS of water. Probably over a gallon a day. Not specifically for weight loss. I just like drinking it and I'm always thirsty. I keep hearing rave reviews about how when people start drinking more water, it can cause them to lose weight. But I have NOT seen that. Quite the opposite, actually.

Overall, I'm pretty slim. But my belly area is always bigger compared to the rest of me and it seems like it's because of all the water. The more I drink, the more my stomach size increases throughout the day. On the days when I drink less water, my stomach stays flatter.

So what am I missing here? Why do you think water makes me bigger when it makes other people smaller?
