Would 22lb be too heavy?
I'm just guessing here, but most people who say they can only use machines have bad technique such as leaning forward to use multiple muscles which prevents them from being able to progress or move to free weights.Just aiming to be helpful.
The long bar is 20kg, I can't benchpress past 30kg for 6 reps I think, so at most I would put some small 2.5 kg pr 5kg disks if I manage to lift it for a few reps. And it isn't bad technique, if you look at strength standards for women 50-60kg it is normal unless you have been training for years.
Anyway, I am not sure how much I can benchpress since i haven't attempted it in months, plus the gyms were closed, but for chest press I can do 27kg for about 6 reps. These are the standards for bench and chest press for 1 rep max:strengthlevel.com/.../kgstrengthlevel.com/strength-standards/chest-press
