In my religion when we are born and when we die is absolutely set on stone, it is decided how much time we will have being alive on this planet and no amount of green juice or kale salad will increase it and even the most fatal accidents won't decrease it.
Where we have the freedom though, is in deciding HOW we live and die.
Let's hypothetically suppose that I have 80 years lifespan. I could maintain an active, healthy lifestyle so even in the last remaining years of my life I would be able to walk, talk, do other physical activities, spend quality time with my children and grandchildren and then pass away painlessly from natural death. OR I could live an unhealthy lifestyle and spend the last two decades of my life with chronic pains and illnesses, maybe in a wheelchair, maybe my children will have to constantly take care of me, taking truck loads of medicines, and then eventually I will have a difficult and painful death in the hospital being surrounded by machines making ugly noises.
Because you were predestined to go on a journey of becoming fit and healthy. Just like you were predestined to ask this question. The determinism of your life is controlled by the brain in your head which was programmed by events in your life entirely outside of your control, alongside your fixed DNA. The chance of your existence is 1 in 10 to the power of 2,685,000. Just shut up and be grateful that you’re alive.

Maybe the people who ask this question are supposed to suffer in hell. "What's the point?" It's what a homeless drunk will probably ask. Practice an instrument? What's the point? Study? Get married? Have kids? Become a community leader? Invent a cure for a disease? What's the point? Work work work.
Maybe the people destined to hell are the ones who can't find meaning in anything they work towards. And some of them might even be among the brightest. It takes a reasonably bright person to question the point of everything they're doing. The dumb ones just do what they're told.
But maybe there's some sweet spot for people who question the point of things but seek meaning in what they do and do it -- the explorers. Maybe these are the enlightened ones -- the ones who work hard to find a point, including staying in shape.
You might not be able to change the outcome, but it doesn't matter, cause you don't know the future. Your current choices help you guess it better. For example, if you give up on everything, it's more probable that your predestined future is that you will die at a younger age because of bad health, and with a lot of regrets. But if you choose to try to be more productive, it's more probable that a fulfilling future awaits you.

I think we are just trying to be happy & comfortable. If you choose to be a failure and miserable, that's a personal choice. We fill our lives with things that give meaning to it. Death may be inevitable, but life doesn't have to be miserable. Life is what you make of it.

i don't believe in free will but i'm also a utilitarian, i only internalize ideas that are useful. if an idea doesn't do good for me. why use it?
so while i don't believe in free will i don't use that as an excuse to not act in my best interest. yea its probably out of my hands and i'm just a walking meat computer but this meat computer would not function well if it didn't feel responsible

The same reason actors still go out and try to win Oscars, not leave them all to the "stars" to win, each year.
God may have written script, but it's you that wins the Oscar or wooden spoon for your performance.

How do you know, and what makes you think that your life and death is 'pre-determined'? I think that is nonsense, and WE CHOOSE so many things and those CHOICES alter our life path!

Because if we don't, we'll definitely never be and live to regret not trying.
Might as well enjoy our time and get rich and live well.
I mean if Diabetes Type 2 sounds appealing to you, then go ahead and don't bother staying healthy 😁
Because life and death are predestined we know that we have only one life, so why not live it to the fullest. Be happy, smile and make others happy too.

Because that way at least you die without any regrets that you didn't try. It'd be worse to be on one's death bed and look back and realize we did nothing worth remembering.

If that were true then maybe you shouldn't. However, I would posit that observation suggests the case for "predestiny" isn't terribly useful or compelling.
