Why and how do I have so much chatter in my mind?

I could be relaxing, working, showering, dishes, social networking, walking, talking, parenting, driving, trying to sleep, brushing my teeth, cooking, any type of genuinely normal functioning and my mind is racing and thinking and analyzing everything good and bad.
It’s draining and I’m a good person.
Why is this?
