I just like the straight, classic, regular metal. Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. Metallica is great as well.
I do also enjoy a band from Sweden called Soilwork. They're "melodic death metal", but they're about the only band of that genre that I listen to on a regular basis. They go back and forth between screaming and singing. Bjorn Strid (or "Speed", as he is so called) actually does a pretty good job of it.
Honestly, I wish more metal bands would sound more like the bands I mentioned at the beginning. I can appreciate the skill and coordination that today's metal bands have, but there's a dreadful lack of substance in my opinion. These days, it's all about screaming at the top of your lungs, down-tuning your guitars, and playing a million BPMs. More Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford, less Cookie Monster please!
When it comes to heavy metal , I have to mention Metallica, Megadeth, Manowar and Motorhead. But in some way their music style also are thrash metal.
Hair metal (motley crue, twisted sister and the like) and whatever w. a. s. p is supposed to be.
I guess those two bands could also be classified as heavy hair metal.
Thrash metal! It's just great.
Probably the classic metal of AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden
I wouldn't say I have a favorite, but lately I have been gravitating towards sabbath inspired doom metal and bands heavily inspired by the likes of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Ghost is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
Do you mean Metal sub-genre? Heavy Metal is a sub-genre of Metal. I mostly like Funeral Doom Metal now.
i'm a thrasher and listening thrash
I'm not into metal, but sludge and some black metal (Weakling) would be my answer.
I don't pay to much attention with what sub-genre things are. As long as it has a killer rhythm and awesome lyrics I will love it. The 2 metal bands I've been listening to lately is Amon Amarth (viking) and Gloryhammer (power)
Can I say industrial? That's about as close to heavy metal as I venture, that and hard rock.
I should get into more music, because I can't even name 1 heavy metal sub-genre.
Classic metal for sure. Progressive also.
