I mean, he's dumb in general, but it's a great idea. Illegal immigrants couldn't pass if you built a very high, strong wall across the border. So people would know they can't make it to the US without a visa and not die trying.

The root of this immigration problem lies in the massive amounts of drug violence and economic instability in Mexico. The United States can deal with these problems mostly by declaring an immediate and permanent end to drug prohibition; next, America must put insurmountable pressure on the Central American and South American countries to adopt free-market economic policies.
These two measure would be far more effective than any wall could ever be.3
