Moving & cannot take my cat. How will I cope?

I'm moving to another city for a year contract and can't take my cat with me. My cat brings me so much comfort and happiness; he is like an emotional support animal to me. My parents will take care of him for me, but I don't know how I'm going to cope without him.

  • You should get your cat certified as a service pet for
helping you cope with anxiety, stress, depression and
you should be allowed to take him to where your going
service animals have to be allowed according to law
if you get a doctor to write you need your cat it should
    go through for you.

  • Register them as an emotional support animal and it'll be illegal for anyone to refuse you for that.
My mom did that with one of our pets.
(at least in the US I don't know if that'll work in other countries)

  • When I had to move (very sudden and unexpected), and had to give up my cats, it was very hard.
Knowing they were going with someone who could be trusted was a big deal. I coped by knowing they were somewhere, safe and happy.

  • Well that's a shame at least you'll be having a job right, just video call your parents whenever you miss your baby kitty..

  • You want a cat? I got 2 living under my derelict car.

Have no idea how they've survived the winter.

  • Just remember that the cat is only using you for food and attention and never really loved you

  • Are you going to be gone 365 days or will you be back from time to time? If so you will see the cat when your back.

    • Unfortunately you don't always have a choice. I have to take this job otherwie I'd be unemployed 😞

    • If only there were hotels for cats..

    • @Dean7 There are, but of-course you'd have to stay there with your cat.
