Usually nothing other than having to turn up in court, as long as they stop and immediately called ambulance and police.Generally the police will review the scene and report that the driver was acting safely and could not have predicted this would happen.If your car is damaged you're unlikely to be able to put that on the pedestrian but insurance should have provision for this anyway.

This is why you get dash cams, to prove your innocence in situations like these. I’ve seen innocent drivers that have obeyed road rules get charged when someone has run out in front of their car. A lot of people run out in front of cars to injure themselves and claim money.
