- This sounds awful, but only about 25%. In this I am a bit eccentric, I admit.
First, I am NO fan of winter and could pass on the snow and cold and short cloudy days. So "Let it Snow!! Let it snow!!" is definitely NOT one of my favorite Christmas carols.
Suffice to add that Spring and Summer are my favorite times of year, so anything during the Fall and Winter just does not hold that much of an attraction for me. Christmas, unfortunately, made the mistake of being held at the wrong time of year.
Then I get more eccentric - Easter Sunday is, by far, my favorite holiday. It goes without saying that I prefer spring flowers to snow showers - yes, I deliberately tried to make that rhyme. More than that, though, in my family at least, Easter was a second Christmas.
The Easter Bunny hid not only baskets, but gifts. There was - as there was at Christmas - a huge family get together where I could see my cousins and grandparents. The family decorated the house - even including lights around the windows, grant that they were pastel colors (pink, yellow, purple, baby blue) and not Christmas colors (stark red, green, blue, white.)
So at Easter I got all the fun of Christmas in much better weather and so - as I have gotten older and the louder and longer the Christmas season has gotten - the less I have liked Christmas and the more I have liked Easter.
Okay, so I am weird, I admit it. Guilty as charged.
Still, I have two little boys and my little princess and to see them so excited about Santa and the tree and all the rest does warm my heart. So for them, I have still have a soft spot. (Truth in advertising, because we do Easter the way we did it when I was a kid, my little Munchkins get just as excited about the Easter Bunny as they do Santa - so I get a twofer.)
So I only voted 25%. Frankly, if the Christmas season - advertising and increasingly store decorations and all the rest - did not begin as early as it does now, I might enjoy it more. However, by the time you hit December 25th, I have pretty much been there, done that.
So what is my first thought on Christmas morning - only 4 months till Easter!!! It's odd, but my family is used to me by now.0|10|0Is this still revelant?P. S. Also, just to add, I notice that you live in the UK. I am in the United States where we have Thanksgiving Day on the last Thursday in November.
It used to be that you had decorations and a run-up - advertising and all the rest - for Halloween. The run-up usually starting about mid-October (after Columbus Day, Oct 12 - which you would call a "bank holiday.") Then the run-up to Thanksgiving - again decorations and such going up the day after Veterans Day - which you would call Remembrance Day on Nov. 11 Then the day AFTER Thanksgiving, the Christmas run up would begin - starting with Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving and so named because sales were so huge that it would put shops "in the black" profitable for the year.)
Moreover, my brother's birthday is December 8, my mother's is December 16 and so we did not decorate - and even now I still do not - till the day after December 16. (In fact, I usually wait - the kid's pleading notwithstanding - till December 21, the first day of winter.)
Put it all together and there was a big build-up that made me look forward to it. Plus the decorations always came down On New Year's Day so that you did not get tired of them. Now, Christmas begins in October and I even saw a Black Thursday in September sale. No joke. So by the time you hit Christmas you can stick a fork in me - I'm done.
So you get a little tired of it all. Anyhow, I saw that you just replied to me so I will stop and read your message. Thanks also for the thumbs up.
Saw your message. You have excellent taste and are wise beyond your years and stand for all that is good and decent and noble in man. I salute you!!

Your welcome. Halloween decorations are in stores in September and Christmas in October here. In October you have Halloween and Christmas decorations in shops together. We do not have Thanksgiving here
Well, I knew you did not have Thanksgiving, but otherwise you suffer now what we Americans endure too. As I say, we used to keep the months and holidays distinct as I laid it out. Now we have Christmas and Halloween decorations together too.
An even greater offense - and don't get me wrong, I loved school - but now we have "Back to School" sales beginning the day after Independence Day - the 4th of July!!! (Which, believe me, I KNOW you guys would not celebrate.)
Still, back to school in mid-summer!!! It is an offense against the laws of God and man. Back in my day, "Back to School" sales did not begin till after August 15 - for a school year that began the first Tuesday in September.
So now they have messed everything up and the only thing that gives me hope is young people like you who know the value of Spring, Summer and Easter Sunday. You have the wisdom of the ages!!That is, as I say, because you are wise beyond your years. Your parents raised you well and I have no doubt that such a right thinker as yourself is destined for great things!!
