I love driving a manual. I recomend at least learning and giving it a chance. I've only owned 1 automatic in my life, and I get feelings of not being in control of the vehicle itself. While it is not preferred in bigger cities ( lots of shifting, traffic jams, stop lights , etc. ) it does give you the ability to drive anything once you learn!

In UK the standard driving test is with manual gears, you can do an automatic test, but it doesn't qualify you to drive auto,,,
