Is it time to accept it that covids going to kill us all?

We're starting our third full lockdown after Christmas. We've put up with restriction after restriction. Herd immunity isn't going to happen due to the nature of this virus and the vaccines don't offer long term protection. I'm all for trying to contain viruses but their comes a time you have to accept reality and just live with them.

We're all familiar with how the plague swept through Europe killing huge numbers but what a lot forget is it was very short lived, just a few months and was followed by a time of prosperity. Perhaps it's time to let nature take it's course and thin out the herd, once 80% of people are gone it'll naturally fizzle out.

Should have gone down the Swedish route. As far as I'm aware, they didn't ruin their economy, and their per capita death rate is still lower than ours.

As I read from a commentator the other day, people are broadly supportive of this nonsense, irrational approach because they still have their artificial jobs vis a vis furlough (cynically, hence why they've extended it for another month). Once people lose their jobs in vast swathes (with the attendant political fallout), then they will begin to understand. And don't they realise that it's the people in power and the people who are in comfort, the middle classes and the old bastards, who can afford to shoulder all this? What if you're on 9£ per hour, you're on seasonal or zero hours contracts? Fuck them I suppose.

Whose paying for this furlough scheme? I can tell you one thing, it isn't the government. It's fucking well me, out of my tax. And I don't earn enough to have my tax money frittered away on shit. Frittered away on businesses that have abused the furlough scheme (there was a report on the news yesterday). Frittered away for people to sit on their fat arse, and probably earn more money on furlough or on benefits than me who actually has to work). Concentration of power with smaller viable businesses being ruined while everyone centres their money on amazon (who probably still don't pay any tax) with these idiotic lockdowns.

This whole approach, the destruction of our liberties with us having to worry about being arrested or fined for seeing our family, this whole fear mongering has been absolutely disgusting.

If it was me in power, I'd have the advice be this:

There is a dangerous virus about, be alert. But get on with your lives.
The emphasis would be on personal responsibility. Not being hounded and videoed by unconscious fascist supporters (ie the police) for doing something that is your own business, such as seeing a friend.
Money should be spent on things that actually work. Expanding hospital capacity and test and trace. All the other shit would be dispensed with.
Masks would be your own personal responsibility. Not mandated.
Extra care and support should be given for those who are vulnerable.
And the fucking cherry on top? 40% of Americans are obese. 28% of Brits are obese. something like 2/3 of Brits are overweight. My health advice is this. Stop taking your life for granted and expecting the medical establishment to sort you out because they're arrogant and inept. Your health is your own responsibility. Broadly speaking, you should lose that 30kg of weight you are carrying (you tubby fuck). You should stop eating so much processed shit and takeaways (or takeouts as they'll soon be called as we increasingly copy the US). Health is generated from consistently eating the right kind of foods. People should be within their BMI. People should get frequent cardio vascular exercise and walk for at least an hour per day. That'll cut the death rates significantly unlike these idiotic, dirty and divisive masks.

This whole strategy has been idiotic because it has been centred on the notion of a vaccine to save us and that it is anathema and political suicide for anyone to die. But is like tearing a plaster off millimetre by millimetre per day. Nothing is making this virus go away. Whatever we do, it'll still be there.

Good look with your vaccine is all I can say. And I can tell you where you can shove it.

For me the thing thst pisses me off about it is all the lies and drama about it I still don't know of anyone thst has died from it yet,, like you said this crap started 1 Year ago or longer I go to a plumbing store every other day and at the door there is a girl there to greet you and take your temp and where from 500 to 800 people walk through the doors I ask all the time how many people have you had to not let them in because there temp was to high let's just say 1 year. 365 days a year at 500 people a day and has not had to turn anyone away. ,, but all these people are dying ,,, somewhere,,, ,, ok now lock down is to keep us in our homes what are we going to do when at home we get on out laptops computers phones ,, how many people are playing the new games that say they will pay you money. But they do every to cheat you you have to give all your information to These apps. Cancer car wreck , but in the paper when you read what happen covid is in everyone got in a car wreck because had covid had cancer for 2 years but covid took the life ok what is the big picture they are trying to do anything everything to shut down small business make them go broke small business it what runs our country they pay a higher tax than big business like you said let's go along with it. I don't not want my kids to grow up under the bulshit of people governments putting us or getting us to depend on them I'm telling you one day there's going to come a day thst everyone stands up together and says no more ,,,, and let's ask this wouldn't it be so much better for our government just to be honest and say hey the world is to big to many people this is what we have to do let's work to gether in stead of all the bull shit and lies ,,, so let's see if it happens. They are getting information on all of us through our electronic devices. Then will come food shortage. And the big business will lay off more and more people banks will go belly up

I don't think COVID will kill us all - at least not those of us who don't live in the USA. If you live in the USA, it might kill most of the people you know, especially if the anti-vaxx and anti-mask idiots don't die.

But elsewhere, where the vaccine is going to have higher uptake and people are naturally paying more attention to keeping up with social distancing and mask requirements, I think COVID will be more or less under control by the end of 2021.

This virus isn't bad enough to kill us all. Even with given mutations, further mutations, etc, it isn't bad enough to wipe everyone out. Some segment of humans will also be immune, or have a semblance of immunity. Even if it wiped everyone else out, that would start a further continuation of the evolution of homo sapiens. As is, this virus is going to hurt us. First, through death, and last complications. In my case, lung damage. Many people are also having lasting cardiac issues. This is likely going to be a long term virus, like influenza. We will eventually settle into a semblance of normality. It's just going to take time to get there. That said, the economy is hurting everywhere, unemployment is very high, homelessness is about to sky rocket, etc. Civil issues are the larger concern. Tell me, if the economy crashes, how do you think most people will fare? When the grocery stores don't have enough logistical workings, utility interrupts or shutdowns, etc? Do you know how to grow food, hunt, save, preserve, reason, etc? I'm more worried about that than I am the virus. People do stupid stuff when they get desperate.

The death rate is actually down from last year.

2019, 2.9 million Americans died.

So far in 2020 we only have data up to November, but there's only 2.5 million deaths this year, and unless we have a whole bunch of 9/11's, we're not gonna catch up to last year's numbers.

I think deaths are down this year because the regular flu disappeared in March, lol.

My mother is at high risk because of immune suppressants to treat her cancer.

I have a medical condition called crohn's which is also treated with immune suppressants.

All it takes is for one of us to encounter someone who is asymptomatic to be less than careful and would be in danger.

Elderly people are also at more risk!
