What are signs to know a toddler has autism?

My nephew is almost 2 years old in 3 months and hasn't learned any words. He does smile and make eye contact, but it worries me how he does certain things like spinning or he flips all his toys upside down

Aren’t there cognitive tests that doctors and stuff do to determine these things in toddlers? I would probably try to get a test done instead of just worrying about it to be honest. Then again I have no idea how any of that works

That doesn't seem concerning at all. My son is 3 and is in speech therapy cause he only knows about 5 words. Some kids are just behind with speaking. The toy thing doesn't seem odd either.

Some people are just slower than others when it comes to speaking.

Even if he got an impairment, there are many others which have the same symptoms.

The non verbal part of him is a big indicator. but only a doctor can tell you for sure.

Does he do anything to self stimulate, they call it stimming. Like does he rock when he sits in place, does he do repetitive behavior with his hands. He would do these things when he idles.

He doesn't rock back and forth but what worries me is when he watches his cartoon I try getting his attention by showing him a toy or I'm talking to him and he ignores me

People with autism can be hyper-focused. I have first hand experience with this. My wife is autistic.

Oh and yes I can see him hyperfocused. I read supposedly toddlers can become autistic if they watch too much TV not sure if its true but my sister makes him watch tv for hours since morning to night

let me stop you right there. Autism is a genetic disorder that causes issues with certain structures in the brain. It is not caused by television nor is it caused by vaccines. Granted That much TV isn't good for anyone, its not a cause. His hyper focus though is another trait of autism.

Those are signs. Does he like up his toys in rows? Like cars or blocks? Go see your doctor.

I will see if he lines up toys, I haven't noticed because my sister always puts one toy at a time, but he does get angry fast and always throws his toys and yells
