In the first movie : Daniel was picked on and bullied by the first antagonist.
In Kobra kai : the antagonist re opens Kobra kai.. trying to help a Nerd bullied at school.. laruzzo was then decieeved and mislead by her daughter's friend in believing that the Protagonist hasn't changed and that he is up to old tricks again.
what Laruzzo doesn't know
is that the guy who his daughters dating actually bullied a kid and The protagonist was saving the kid from the bullies like mayagi did... but Laruzzo doesn't see it that way. Because of past experiences

Laruzzo has always been a bad guy

Only in Kobra kai has his role changed

Maybe the producers didn't like Daniel Laruzzo

There are always two sides to every story, and like in real life, "good" and "bad" don't really have any meaning. Everyone always thinks they are the good guy doing the right thing, but from the perspective of another person, it may not be so.

From Johnny's perspective, Daniel was trying to steal his girlfriend and only fought because Daniel wouldn't back off. Then, at the Halloween party, Johnny hadn't seen or bothered Daniel in months, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Daniel drenches Johnny and his friends with water for seemingly no reason. Then, in the karate tournament, Daniel breaks the tournament rules in order to win. Despite losing unfairly, Johnny is a gracious loser and shakes Daniel's hand.

When Daniel and Johnny see each other again in Cobra Kai, Johnny is relatively nice to Daniel, not wanting a confrontation, but Daniel is an asshole and embarrasses Johnny in front of everyone, completely unprovoked.
