One of my cats passed away recently which got me thinking about my own mortality. I'm disturbed by both the ideas of my body being burned & my body rotting, so I looked up alternatives.
Aquamation is similar to cremation but it uses water instead of fire. It causes the body to go through the regular decomposition process, except within 24 hours instead of years, and results in ashes that can be placed in an urn and/or buried if desired. Based on what I read I personally think this is a good alternative. What would you prefer to happen to your body after you die, and why?
I want to be cremated because I think normal burial is outdated and unnecessary. The body will decay and leave the casket there taking up space. You rot and then you don't exist anymore except in spirit and energy so it makes sense to do a cremation service, if your family wants to be weird and keep the ashes then that's on them, be my take is let it go, they are gone. You can however have a ceremony out of respect where you spread the ashes at a location honoring them especially if this was their last request. People need to stop burying people in a grave, spending all that money and leaving them to stink up the place.
Hmm, I'd go with either cremation, or just having some chain wrapped around me and dumped off the side of a boat. The second one would be way way cheaper with less red tape and BS. Also getting mixed up with the cremated remains of many others to pad out the mass. A guy I knew used to work cremations and grinding the bones and ash left over, he said it never really got cleaned, you just grind and fill the bags until they're about equally full.
Also that with the morbidly obese it would burn dangerously hot. Burial would seem alright if not for all the embalming... it seems completely unnecessary to replace my innards and make me look like a doll for one day of a wake and a sealed casket, under 6 feet of concrete down here. If caskets aren't covered in concrete they pop out of the ground when it rains, which is terrifying to see when it floods with really old caskets that have broken down concrete on top.
I will be portioning out my ashes to a few friends and one friend/glassmaker. See my friends have a job and that is to take my ashes to four places and pour them out. Puerto Rico, a river by where i was born, and both The Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The glassmakers job however is to take the small portion of ash given and add it to a decorative piece to be given to my family along with, my last will and testament, my family crest, and my family’s bible. Bringing my final will and journey to its conclusion.
I'd much rather be put in the ground then burned or put in water to be turned to ashes. And this seems weird but there is just something about cemeteries that I love being able to walk and sit over someone's body in the ground. Not sure why but I guess that's why being buried seems good.
You might want to do a little more research on what they do.
Your body is placed in a non corrosion stainless steel cage naked. Dropped into a bath of caustic soda solution at around boiling point. All the tissue dissolves, leaving your skeleton. They then grind your skeleton up, to dust. Pop the dust in an urn ant tell your family that it's your "ashes". Ash is obviously the remains of burning, so it can't be ashes.
It's crazy to think about putting your family in debt after your dead. People could seriously do anything they want with me. Whatever is the cheapest or better yet, free. I don't care if someone digs a whole themselves or find something big enough for cremation. I would be dead and really wouldn't (and couldn't) care at that point. Just as long as I am not left out somewhere to be found by kids or something. I would hate for a child to come across any dead body but I would hate it if it was mine.
Well I was thinking years ago if i wasn't able to share myself with everyone i wanted to share mysekf with then , I wanted to be cremated and then taken to a NASCAR RACE And on the 3rd lap be thrown in in the air so the air would carry me through the stands and anyone eatting a hot dog WOULD have a little taste of me
Either cremation or I want my arms and legs cut off and be buried in 5 different tombs around the world, each price of me buried with a warning in some language to never put my body back together as I am some great evil, have a fake history written about me that way I could possibly pull a funny prank on someone even if I would never see it happen.
Buried. Id rather my body go to the environment even if im eaten by a bunch of bugs fuck it, their getting food at least. I dont believe in cremation but to each their own but for my body its my decision what i opt to do and id rather it be for something beneficial than to waste even though Ill be dead.
I want my body sent into a black hole in outer space. Sadly most are many lightyears away, but I might look into making one closer. My body would be converted to pure light. It would be a very unique burial.

I want it to float up off the table and dissipate into the air and disburse through the walls.
I'm sorry about the loss of your cat. Have been through that.
I chose cremation because the thought of being put in the ground absolutely frightens me. All those it goes along more with my beliefs about recycling life as in the worms eat me then the birds and cats etc. I just don't want to chance if my soul is stuck in my body but no one knows it and I'm trapped in the ground. I'd rather be burned and then my spirit taken where my family frees me.

My head in a jar or maybe just my brain or go down the cryogenic route... not sure yet but I have 30 years to decide
The rest of me cremated and turned in a diamond that I am sure of
I didn't know that Aquamation existed, it seems to be the best alternative. Before reading your post I wanted to be cremated but the thought of having my body burning scares me.
I don’t believe in cremation. Sure whites did it centuries ago. However, the main reason we do it now is because of Chinese influence on society. I for one have had enough influence from foreign cultures.
If I'm dead I'm dead I don't need my body no more. Thus I don't care what you do to it. If I'm dead you can cut me up with a chainsaw and feed me to zoo animals for all I care.
Take everything that can be used to help others from my corpse then what's left should be given a natural burial where the decomposers do their thing and decompose my flesh
I want to be cremated, put in a coffin, but then sent in to space, hoping that some day, an alien will be able to analyze my remains, and see if they would know what i am
