They didn't have uniforms at all in my school or city until I was in senior year of high school, when the corrupt f*ckwit mayor of our city made all public school uniforms mandatory because he was getting lobbied by a clothing company, which obviously ended up getting the exclusive contract to provide the "acceptable uniforms" for school. Many people refused to wear them out of protest and it was a whole big deal.
Eventually, after 5 or 6 weeks, they made the uniform policy more relaxed to where, you only had to wear certain clothing under a certain school color (ours was navy blue). In other words, more of a dress code than outright uniforms. So you could choose slacks, shorts, etc, by any clothing company, as long as they were "business casual" and fit the school colors.
Still, to the surprise of almost no one, the POS mayor we had ended up accused in a massive scandal of stealing taxpayer money for himself (he got off the hook, of course) about a year later, after I had already graduated high school. I'm still pissed to this day we had to suffer because of a corrupt mayor. At least corrupt presidents rarely affect our day-to-day lives. Sadly, MANY politicians where I'm from, if not most of them, were corrupt as f*ck.
I went to public school. When I was in elementary school we could wear whatever we wanted, but because of the ramped bullying that happened because I went to school with low income kids like myself and "rich kids" the school officials had a uniform code made and they enforced it. Elementary & Middle School was stricter than the High School, only in the High School we could wear plaid or any color button up or polo shirt.
Aww, too cute. Anywho, no uniforms, a little bit before I graduated they had this brilliant ID tag idea. The plan being if someone comes to commit a crime in school, they'll be caught for their lack of ID! It will protect you! Other schools in the area had uniforms, come to think of it I think my old school has them now.
I just stopped going to school and went to college instead, it was getting silly there with all the new rules and stuff, they did fine without me and gave me my diploma when I asked for it, so it all worked out.
I went to many schools and 2 of them tried to make me wear a uniform. Each time, I asked the principals if they had the money to buy them because my mom did not. When they said no, I told them that the uniform was too much of a financial burden. I refused to wear the uniforms and my mom was able to get both schools to quit making uniforms mandatory. When the schools tried to press the issue, my mom and many other parents went to the school boards and showed them how much uniforms cost vs. how much families make and costs of supporting a family. Both school boards ruled that uniforms were too much of a financial burden to most of their families and ordered the schools to quit enforcing uniform policies.
I never did. However when I was in my 8th grade year, things changed in my school district. 6th graders got bumped from elementary school to middle school and 9th graders got bumped from middle school to high school.
Coincidently, the very next year (my freshman year of high school), the middle school I went to got a new prinicipal. She was kind of person who had a pumped up ego just because she recently acquired the title of "doctor." One of her first acts as principal was to impliment a strict uniform policy. Her logic was that if everyone dressed the same, bullying would go down and everyone would get along better. Spoiler alert: it didn't.
I'm just glad I never had to. I wouldn't have been able to stand it.
In Bangladesh. Untill Grade 12 (Higher Secondary Level) there is strict dress code in 99% case. (Maybe one or two Institutions allow any dress). So, no.
Only in some Informal occasions that you are allowed to wear anything. So, yeah sometimes yes.

Only when I went to school where I currently live but when we moved out of state, no uniforms. They said the uniform policy was because I guess kids were getting bullied if they were certain brands that maybe other kids couldn’t afford, so basically because of envy.
All my schools were public so we got to wear what we wanted. It was a few times I got to wear it when I transiting into a new school for my middle school and it was not attractive everyone looking the same.
yes. back were I grow up. uniform on schools is almost the general rule, of course every school have they're own uniforms, so we basicly after school we know who study were.
As with Asian countries, we had to. I didn't mind it. Meant that my personal clothes won't be destroyed and I didn't need to think of what to wear to school. Just slap on a uniform and thats it
Way back when i was in school i had a uniform. didn't like it, but at the same time i didnd have to choose something new every day lol. pros and cons i guess.
nope but I wasn't allowed to wear what I wanted to though, even tank top and leggings was barely passing, but I was allowed to wear that, shorts had to be almost capri length, I couldn't wear short shorts
