Do some of the mods of this site abuse their authority and remove anything they don't like?

I think that they probably do, yes. They remove more posts from those that they don't like or those that they have a personal grudge against. I never used to think this but it's becoming more obvious. It probably doesn't help that admin supposedly doesn't get involved in the site much, so they just do what they like.

I used to be an Ubermod in my last incarnation. I not only had to obey the GAG site rules, but also the rules laid down for moderators. Any large deviation might have cost me my mod status.

Since I have come back, it feels like GAG is one big bot. Admin are completely silent. I feel they are not part of the team like they used to be. They are not courteous enough to reply to a message from me.

I assume you have had posts deleted or accounts frozen. If so, I suggest you read and understand the site rules. I cannot think why a mod would delete anything that is allowed. I certainly never. In fact, if I was unsure, I used to let it stay, so someone else could look at it.

I must admit, I have seen more gripes about mods, since I came back, than I used to. Then, again, I see more rule breakers.

If they do, then the Admins must agree with them.

Everything the a Mod removes is subject to review by an Admin before it becomes official. If the Mod removes something that doesn't violate the site posting rules, then an Admin will restore it. If this happens too often, the Mod will lose their status.

So if a post is taken down, then both the Mod, and the Admin, both agree that it did, indeed, violate the rules.

I'm simply explaining the process that happens when a Mod chooses to hide a post. I'm sure the process isn't perfect, and I do know that Admins do disagree on occasion, when a post is removed erroneously. I've even seen the occasional Mod lose their Moderator status due to abuse, so it does happen.

All I can do is provide you with the facts, as I know them. I obviously don't know everything, nor do I claim do. You also don't have to believe me; that's your right.

It seems very rare. And this is coming from someone who has had posts removed for what I think are bogus reasons. I think the mods in here are very fair, even if I don't always agree with why they remove some questions. They at least give you a reason why and state what rule was broken. It's like the opposite of how Reddit was, where every single mod was an immature, petty piece of sh*t.

If anything, this place is way better than any social network out there, from this standpoint.
