What Smells Make You Happy?

There are a number of smells that make me happy because I associate good memories with them.

1. The smell of burning wood
2. The smell of a wet forest
3. The smell of chocolate and foods I crave
4. The smell of a number of flowers
5. The smell of fresh clothing

Those are just a few numbers of smells I do relate with because I did smell them when I was younger and I do associate them with individual memories. The sense of smell is probably my most powerful sense of all because they trigger so many good (and bad) associations.

Chestnuts roasting.
Sweet violets.
When snow is coming.
After heavy rain.
Certain types of freshly mowed grass.
Approaching the ocean.
Old books.
The inside of my mothers trunk.
Clean laundry without added fragrances.
Good whiskey.

-Hot cocoa. I found one recipe for s'more flavored hot cocoa that's absolutely heavenly, but even plain old Swiss Miss is pretty good. Bonus points if I'm watching it snow at the time.
-Petrichor, particularly if it's warm, but not hot out. That's the ideal weather for it.
-Frying onions, *especially* if it's mixed with frying bacon.

Fried fish, grilled steak and hamburgers, fresh bread baking.

My mum's cooking is one for sure. Walking in the house and smelling some of my favorite foods makes me very happy. 😊
