Physical fitness question. PUSH UPS!

What is your weight, age, height and amount of push ups you can perform in one set?

I am trying to figure out muscle size and muscle endurance correlations.

If you bench press please also list your max?

Interesting so far.

Seems like lighter is better most of the guys here that are lightier can complete more push ups. It is an endurance exercise. When I was in high school at the age of 17 - 152lbs - 5'8 I could pull off over 100 push ups with perfect form. (did 110 for a SEAL challenge in high school) Now I'm about 5'10 at 175lbs, bench 275, and can do about 65 to 70 push ups but its pretty difficult. I'm trying to find the perfect balance of muscle and endurance. I want to do 100 push ups easy

    • personally I would favor endurance over strength, id rather put my money on the boxer that can throw full power for the whole distance, rather than the ko king who only lasts maybe 2-3 rounds after that he punches like a kitten

    • It's not one or the other, unless you're training to be the best. No, you can't be the best 100m sprinter and marathon runner.. because it takes completely different training and it's a 24/7 job with either one (to be a world champion).. however, you can be an incredibly fast marathon runner. E.g. Marathon runners run 4:30 miles, that's one min 7.5 second 400 meter dashes (only 104 of them consecutively stringed together).. if that's marathon pace, how fast you think their actual 400m is?

    • id probably rather be a sprinter than a long distance runner, iam in the process of becoming a police officer, so if I could out run the guy right off the start the chase would be over before it started.

  • There is a serious flaw in this. How are you determining muscle size? A person who is 5'10" and weighs 180lbs with 15% body fat will produce completely different results that a person of the same height and weight with 65% body fat.

    • Not muscle size more of muscle endurance in accordance of weight and structure.

For i.e average weight for someone who is 5'10 is about 165.

Dont really care about size of muscle.

    • Ah OK, I just assumed you meant muscle size when you said "I am trying to figure out muscle size and muscle endurance correlations." did you mean physical size then?

    • Its worded incorrectly in that sense.

What I'm trying to find out is weight+structure= x amount of push ups for a given individual. I also added in the bench press question as another variable that could help. Id also love to know body fat percentage but most people don't know that so never mind it.

Id like to hear from some guys that are on the larger side but can accomplish 70+ push ups in one set perfect form.
