I need help in fixing my sleeping schedule.

I've been doing this weird thing where I fall asleep at 5 am and sleep until 3 or 4 pm and then go back to sleep again 5 am the next day.

I need to fix this because I have "stuff" to do during the daytime hours and this is turning into horrible insomnia. I'm ready to go to the doctor's office to get sleeping pills but I have heard they are very addictive. Is there anything else I can try, by the way I am writing this at 4:52 am in Denver.
