@OfDeath ok so I made a few typo's sorry.
@OfDeath yes I know I have issues with grammar at times.
It used to be legal and common for men to beat their wives
A lot of Asinine things used to be legal.. Like Lynchin people, and slavery at one point.. Also wives could own possessions and their husbands or children would not be entitled to any of those possessions.. Husbands were also responsible for their wives crimes.. As to how true legally beatin their wives was.. I don't know because the wives had families, and back in the 1800s they used to whip down men who did harm to their wives.. Maybe in some cases it was true, but history is a lot more nuance than it is portrayed..
men were never in favor of patriarchy. it was always women that didn't want the obligations, accountability and pressure that comes with the "rights" that men had. someone had to do it and men traditionally sacrificed themselves to do it.now that the obligations and accountabilities deminish (for example conscription, bucked duty now being gone), women want it too.
Both people always worked, but the man worked outside the home and made the money, while the woman worked (mostly) inside the home raising the children, running the house, and making meals. If you think staying home with young children and trying to keep a house clean while you take care of them isn't work, or isn't important, then you're way out of touch. It's one thing if you're a childless couple - then, yes, she needs to get a job. But that's not how things were - most couples had children almost immediately after getting married, which they did at relatively young ages, and most had several children at least. Being a housewife didn't mean TV and hair appointments, it meant raising children and taking care of the husband when he got home from work. It was pretty well balanced, which is why it worked for so long.
Well men used to be allowed to beat their wives if they misbehaved. Kinda sounds like an unequal power dynamic to me 🤷♀️
You're talking about hundreds of years ago, not the 1950s. Today, spouses beat each other pretty equally, as even female police officers will attest to, so, congrats on equality there.
@MrOracle So were did I say women didn't work? Go ahead, point to the part where I said women didn't work. Of course women worked. What I was pointing out was the claim that men treated women as slaves as if men didn't also work was absurd. I pointed out that the idea that men were having fun working and it was all for them when they infact had terrible jobs (the 40 hour work week started in the 1900s, prior to which it was upwards of 100 hour work weeks with only sundays off)) and then giving over all of their income to their families is obviously proof that they were not this domineering evil group of people that she is portraying them as. So I have no idea who the hell your arguing with because your arguments are not related to anything I have said.
Thats not true. In fact a man would be publically flogged for abusing their wife. The last public flogging was in delaware in 1920s I want to say due to an old law that punished a man for abuse. However it has never been illegal to abuse your husband and in fact men who were abused by their wives (a much more common occurence based upon the statistical data) would be paraded down the street and publically humilated and harmed, it was called riding the donkey backwards or riding the invisible donkey:journals.sagepub.com/.../106082659400300203www.saveservices.org/.../The reason why men were suppose to control their wives was because the laws didn't really apply to them (for instance almost no woman had been convicted of a crime in the early america's because no jury would convict a woman. Currently women are 160% less likely to be convicted then a man for a crime and when they are they only get 33% of the sentence a man would get for the same crime.). In addition women were never accountable for their actions which is why a man was solely responsible for his wife both in when she did wrong and in taking care of her (hence some places imprisoning the husband for his wifes debts, or like in the middle east were the eldest male is expected to take care of their mother even if that child is underage (hence the baca bazi, dancing boys who are underage male prostitutes who work as such in order to provide for their mothers and older sisters despite it not being illegal for women to work. The man is always the one responsible even when the "man" is boy).
It’s so easy for women to make money online. They don’t have to do manual labor. They don’t even have to leave the house if they know how to do it right.
@MzAsh But still some have to actually sweat while working and it would be nice to see them feel like us men have felt before.
I don’t mind working either way. I get bored if I’m not doing something.
@MzAsh I am just saying mine stays home, and is sleeping still when I get home, then yells at me about crap like I have done nothing, so it would be nice if she went and lifted heavy boxes and did all that I do to come home tired, and sore, and see what I feel daily.
You should probably communicate your frustration with her about that.
@MzAsh No every time I want to express a thought or feeling she shuts me down and dismisses I have thoughts or feelings.
Why not both work hard, and retire earlier? I'll never understand that way thinking. Then when you kids move out, then what?
@Paul09 as a couple we both decided that at least one of us should be home as the kids grow up to be a more hands on parent. we believe that if we dont have to put our kids into childcare or ask our own parents to raise our kids for us while we both work then we shouldn't. if however i can get a better paying job than him then he will be the stay at home parent.
What do you do at home when kids are at school? There's no way you have 8 hours of work to do around the house.
Your dad doesn't work? Doesn't pay the bills?
Yeah he doesn’t. My mom does all of that.
I don't know if we do or not
You should stop listening to leftists.
I would never be happy if my marriage was like either of my grandparents marriages.
families and children are perfectly healthy now. Moreso than in the past, with healthcare having come a long way in capabilities as well as being more widely accessible
The exploding prison population would seem to disagree with you. The most common denominator amongst the incarcerated is that they were raised by single mothers
Ah, I see.You took the fact that a number of people who are incarcerated were abandoned by their fathers, assumed their mothers were feminists, and again assumed that these alleged feminist tendencies are the sole reason why the fathers bounced out of their child’s lives?
Thiers an entire legal framework built by feminists dedicated to removing fathers from the home, it's called the family court
'Thiers an entire legal framework built by feminists dedicated to removing fathers from the home, it's called the family court.'oh? can you share a link so I can read up on this 'legal framework'? Sounds super interesting to learn more about how fathers are allegedly being removed from their homes (assumedly for no valid reason)
Why does none of these men talk about the fact that some men just leave on their free will because they’re irresponsible jerks who can’t foster a long term relationship and would rather just spawn children instead of raising them. Why is it always when they argue, it’s argued like the mean mommy is always the evil monster who “removed” them from the family? Some women do that, but some men are just deadbeats too.
Probably for the same reason no one talks about how women are irresponsible and spread thier legs for some loser who walks out on his kids. The woman is just as responsible in that situation.
Except there’s a lot of people that never shut up about that.
They could have allowed women to work, vote earlier, so that conjugal roles were more equal. Men were the ones in power 🤷♀️
women never demanded to work outside in the past when working outside was dangerous. And for voting, it was women who didn't want the right to vote because people had to enlist in the army to be able to vote and women were afraid they would have to serve in the army.
But that doesn't mean you didn't have the opportunity. You were given the choice to serve in the army, be the bread winners, be the leader or etc if you are capable with it. That's why there were powerful women in history you never even know but women weren't just biologically hardwired for that generally speaking and majority of women want dominant men. For the driving, do you think cars were like a push of a button unlike cars today? Car before requires a lot of labor and maintenance. When manual stirring wheels requires a lot of force to maneuver that women weren't even interested at driving. Now for the voting part, if you wanna talk about the female suffrage like "feminism" What did they even fight for? They think they're fighting for equality because they think they were oppressed. Little do you know what oppression really was were the male suffrage AKA the soldiers who fought for the revolutionary war to make our lives easier and that's why they had the rights to vote. You got your vote for free.
@alwaysintosomething So for example if you're the dominant one and you're husband don't wanna work, do you have a choice? That was basically what men face before even if they don't wanna be dominant.
@alwaysintosomething Oh wait that question was for the asker not you
