Social anxiety/shyness problems?

Question

Long story short so I don't drown readers with my misery:
Junior in college with few friends. Everyday I get home from class, I'm sad because I was surrounded by people the entirety of the day, but I never struck up a conversation. Been like that everyday for the past 2 weeks. I'm longing for friendship and I'm longing for love. I do put myself out in the situations, but never does the courage come to me to act on it. I guess the question is: How can I get out of my shell around strangers. My best friends say I am super fun to be around and shouldn't have any problem if I was myself. It's just that, that me hides my personality from those I don't know well.

I think some counseling would do you a world of good! There should be some on campus resources that can connect you with counseling services. Best of luck to you!

Called one through my school and he was not very helpful. I looked into group therapy here and said I could start by 9/30. Three weeks away... By then I'll probably have friends haha

You have to force yourself into an uncomfortable situation, and then be yourself in that discomfort and anxiety. That is how you beat those things, you don't give them anything to feed on

Can you tell me what you feel afraid of? My guess would be rejection but do you have more specific fears around rejection like mockery for example?

I guess its the feeling of being judged. But why would I not care about being judged by any of my friends. It is only complete strangers.
