Can it be easier for less attractive people to have friends than someone who is attractive? Is it really because they view them as less threatening?

If they're at least somewhat cool I feel people have no issue with ugly people hanging around them. They might get picked on but they won't feel threatened. Actually I think that's why because it gives some sense of power knowing they're ugly, they can talk down to them. Whereas if an attractive person tries to be your friend your first thought might be oh this person is gonna steal all the girls/guys from me.
