According to me, you are absolutely right. You certainly shouldn't be the fix for his life when we can't figure it out our own lives ourselves! Partners should help one another emotionally, be there when times are dark, help in such a way that two heads think better than one, fill the sex and emotional gap. I believe you are trying hard and it is totally understandable your disappointment. But the good news is that you already have done what needest to be done, tell him. You should demand help like he is demanding so he realizes where he is putting you at, good luck

I mean you're not entitled to do that. There are partners who 'fix the problems' and there are those who don't. One shouldn't force anything on anyone and take them as they are.

If he wants someone to fix his problem, he should go find someone else who's suitable.

That’s true but who is ever really suitable to fix someone. Like you said if you don’t like who they already are it’s no reason to be with them and if you’re that damaged mentally and emotionally to the point you depend solely on your partner to fix you and make you happy you don’t need to be in a relationship in my personal opinion.

There are people who have such relationships with each other that does away with all the damage and baggage they've ever had. Call it belief, placebo effect or over romanticizing, it happens. Doesn't have to happen with everyone, nothing wrong that.

I agree with you. Having a partner and relying on them can only be pulled off on so many things. But that again depends on how compatible you're. Still, there are people who are like leeches; too draining without even them realizing and they ask so much from you. If you're not compatible with someone, simply don't date them. Make room for someone else to come in yours and their life.

If you're hurt that badly, seek out professional therapy; never expect your untrained partner to have the answers. You'll just end up destroying your relationship. Your partner can be a support system, but don't expect more than that from a partner. Bringing your partner in for conjoint therapy can help your partner understand what you are dealing with and learn how to be there when you need a hand or a shoulder to lean on.
