Would you still get an order of protection against someone who has finally left you alone?

A week ago, I finally got out of my physically abusive relationship. When I got away and cut him off as well as blocked him on everything, for about two days, he called me private. I continued to get calls from caller ids that read “Unknown”. He even called me and messaged me from a fake Facebook account but eventually he stopped and I haven’t heard from him in a week. My mom has been telling me to still get an order of protection against him even though he has stopped attempting to contact me but something tells me I won’t need it and that maybe he’s really done and has moved on to another victim.
Would you still get an order of protection against someone who has finally left you alone?
