What's the most notable difference in working with people of your gender versus working with those of the opposite gender?

I work with both genders: two men, three women.
The main difference is how loud and chatty women are!!! Holy crap, they get on my nerves!
They will smile in someone's face and pretend like they're best friends, then talk about her as soon as she leaves the room!

My male coworkers are much calmer and quieter. Yeah, we talk and hang out, but they usually get their work done and keep to themselves. Not to mention they're not as loud and messy as the females.

I would happily work with an office full of men over women anyday.

Women are generally better at staying organized, taking notes and keeping an eye on details (guys are more big picture). They are good at keeping the agendas well organized during presentations.

But I’ve worked with groups of women in office settings and over 80% of the time it was a bad experience. They chit chat, gossip and backbite. If one or two of them don’t like me they poison the well and collude against me. Also female managers can sometimes overcompensate by being demanding (often insulting) as a way to establish dominance. They take things more personally. Male managers on the other-hand understand how to handle authority better. If they admonish an employee it’s not a personal attack but rather about being pissed off about a job not getting done. Women on otherhand (not all but too many) have a much tougher time with this.

Also I’ve had female managers make sexist comments when I was younger. They get leeway to get away with that bullshit. An older female boss DOES have power over a male subordinate. She doesn’t get any more leeway to abuse it the same way a male boss would of over a female subordinate.

I don’t mind working with women just as long the gender ratio is 50/50. But if the female to male ratio is 2/3s or higher that’s when problems arise. I also don’t like female bosses. Not that I don’t mind women in authority. I do. But most of them don’t know to handle authority properly.

Hmm, everytime I work with other guys there needs to be a clear hierarchy/chain of command, objectives and things run like a clock. Without them either apathy or anarchy.

I've had one successful job working with women, the rest is all backstabbing, firing, accusations, counter-accusations, sexual harassment, and phew, thank goodness I had invested in a hidden camera when I was a PI. Though it still left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I'd say now I'm much less willing to work with women. Not without a good back-up plan at least, some leverage in case (when) they try to screw me over.

I'm not saying working with other guys is a utopia, but it is straightforward.

My male boss will bring up an issue or something that could be done more efficiently and he just goes on and on and on about it and fixates on the problem. I have to be like "Okay yes, I understand. Well, how about we try-- Okay I know how you feel about it but we could--."

Then I just kind of nod until he is satisfied that he's said enough words and he moves on so that the rest of us can actually try to figure out possible solutions.

My female boss will bring up a problem and then suggest a possible solution she thought of and then she'll say "That's my suggestion but if you think of something else let me know!" then she leaves us to discuss it and we usually come to a solution faster because she's more concise and she actually allows other people to speak so it's not as frustrating!

I don't really know how much any of this has to do with gender but I do think older men, in particular, are used to being able to talk and talk and talk and never get interrupted or be expected to allow anyone else to speak.

I find males talk to you if they want to date and girls talk to you if you share their religion or culture // At work I find that the younger men and woman tend to be nicer than the older ones, at my job a lot of the older workers were jealous of me and tried to ruin my reputation but I never had that problem with a younger co worker

Males are biologically and culturally hunters who when put in an environment with women have to alter their natural expression/attraction so the females aren't offended. The woman on the other hand can be herself.

In some workplaces a guy merely making a general statement AT LUNCH AWAY FROM THE OFFICE like, "the women in that other office building are hot" could get him on the short list to being fired. But women are often telling men not to even talk about what woman can/should do.

In cases where women sexually harass men at work they're almost never punished. I've seen cases where a female boss harassed her employee and HE was the one who got in trouble with HR.

So there's a difference in what's appropriate and what can get you fired and it's mostly all on the men.

No, this doesn't mean I think anyone should get "harassed" .

The woman I work with go to work to bitch and moan about everything and everyone to everyone instead of just doing their job and earning money. Work is shit enough as it is I don't need to deal with child like bitching I don't care for by a bunch of middle age single women who have nothing better to do with their with their life's.

Men on the other hand are definitely a lot easier to work with. They usually just want to have a good day at work and get on with everyone but sometimes it becomes who's got the biggest cock competition and they don't like being told what to do and always think they know better especially if they're being told what to do by a woman.

I'll speaking from my personal experiences... The men I've worked with have mostly always been friendly, helpful, we worked well as a team...More times then not it always seemed to be females that would get competitive, will try to backstab fellow employees, or be more gossipy. I'm not saying All females, I've worked with some amazing women, but it does always seem like there's always that ONE that will be that way 🙄

The office i work at has men and women both occupying the same roles and receiving equal pay (as far as I've noticed anyway)

I've noticed very few differences besides the obvious stuff. Like mothers have to be concerned with daycare or might have to leave early to pick up a kid and the office might have a few kids in it for an hour or two at the end of the day.

The only oddly specific thing I've noticed is that women tend to ask way more questions that men do.

Not in a "I donr know what im doing" kind of way but more in a "I think this is right but I want to be sure" it seems to me thay in professional environments women sometimes seem more insecure in their decisions even though they are just as qualified as anyone else. Maybe there should be "confidence classes" that directly seek to teach members how to tap into their confidence as a tool to get work done.

It really depends but in my experiences women work better as a group and emotionally support each other, sometimes you'll get the odd woman who is bitchy and feels in competition with other women all the time. Men often seem to be domineering and have sex on the brain but can be helpful for that very reason.

I have found that guys let testosterone get in the way and will openly argue quite a bit. Especially with that one guy that everyone hates.

Women tend to play to many cat games with each other. They will smile to one's face and torpedo the crap out of her the next minute.

I have worked in a female dominated office and now a male dominated office.

I found with women it could be more chaotic and more tip toeing around day to day but in the male office there is a more relaxed workplace with people just doing something because it needs doing.

Saying that the best work mate I have had was a woman, we worked incredibly well together using each others strengths to get whatever needs doing done. We both admit we miss working together.

I will be honest. Working with women isn't very efficient at least in my experience. Women tend to focus on little irrelevant things. For example That female colleague she doesn't like, and she tries to ruin our project just so that other female coworker doesn't get credit.

In my personal experience most men I've worked with are more laid back and easy to work with without any major conflicts, but they sometimes get start to get "flirty" and I don't like that. On the other hand, most women I've worked talk A LOT and they love to gossip (men gossip too, just not to that extent) so I never feel comfortable in that environment. They make me feel like I'll get stabbed too when I'm not around.

Neither. They both waste time. Girls talks to much, gossipping, telling rumors, talking about someone who know someone etc, men are joking around and having fun and therefore not focussing on their work/project.

However, if I have to choose between men or women, I would go for men. I like making fun instead of women who are telling rumors and talking about others girls.

I really enjoyed the back and forth of teasing a girl I used to work with, but for work coherence and general morale and efficiency, working with only men is better. Men work hard together, and at the end fool around like boys together. You feel at tighter bond together that way, amazing for morale. When I work with girls they are kinder, they listen to me, and they are respectful.
whereas a lot of the men I work with wouldn't listen to me since I am younger than them, they treat me like a kid even though I am completing more work than they are.

I have met hundreds of men in IT, if not over a thousand - and maybe 4 women (if we don't count HR managers, recruiters and event organisers but enginerrs/developers/architects)
All 4 were waaaay too reliant on their female privilege to get by - there was very little knowledge involved. One was older and motherly, the other three younger and confident we'd all simply let them through based on having boobs and a hole between their legs.
Trying to discuss a topic of their work was met with a tor**** of drama and insults - regardless of the fact it was obvious what they were doing had zero relations with how any of it work - it was guesswork mixed with hearsay and reliance on the assumption that surely some of the men found them sexy enough to be on their side (none did in 3 cases where they were let go of in the end, the fourth was a government org so they kept her to be their coffee girl/eye candy)

Women are very harsh, judgmental and catty with other women in the workplace, and female bosses tend to be very hard on and unfair to their female employees. Everytime I worked with girls, from school to an actual workplace, it was always the same. Jealousy, competition, hypocrisy, and blaming other people for their own mistakes. That's even worse when there are more girls than guys.
