I personally don’t know if it count as racism, but when I was 8 yo, I remember being shocked when my uncle started dating a black woman. I didn’t considered blacks as inferior but I thought that white people should only marry each other and I still don’t know why, but I had this belief till my mom told me, that thinking like that is racist and that skin color and ethnicity doesn’t matter when it comes to love. She was surprised herself when I told my uncle as a child, that he shouldn’t be with his girlfriend because she’s black. Note that I was raised by open minded parents, and now I totally agree that my vision was weird. Why was I racist?

Like every other kid my age and younger, I was brainwashed pretty heavily to be anti-racist and to be ashamed of being white. I see a lot of people who never broke free of that programming and I feel sad for them. But my sympathy only goes so far when I see new generations of kids brought up to despise their own race.
In my opinion, no one is more deeply hateful and virulently and evilly racist than the people who are in charge of teaching white children to hate themselves and hate their heritage. We can never move past racism as long as certain people take it upon themselves to balance the racial score card for perceived injustices in the past by simply victimizing and alienating a new generation of children and making them feel unwelcome in their own skin.

Meh you were simply acting on the fact that she was different.. whats important n awesome is you had parents that taught you that what ubwere thinking is wrong. When we get older we start to notice that we have differences in people. The other day my nephew who is super light skin said my wife is black lol.. she is as pail white as can be.. like see through lol. But for him she's light like he n everyone is the same just different shades. When my daughter was about 8 the dog kicked her n she giggled and said, "he licked me bc i taste like chocolate. Let him kick you Aunty Myra so he can see u taste like vanilla" lol.. children are like this.. innocent minds that are shaped by their environment. We are born to have assumptions of things we don't know of n we fear things that are different from us. Some people grow up and see that those differences are not important n some others stay stuck in the same childish mind set.

also had racist beliefs as a kid. like i thought black people stunk at some point bc of this one dude that had a weird lotion thing but i thought that was his natural 'black' smell. or believing latino guys in white vans were rapists, chomos or sex traffickers that would try kidnap you. litterally ran away screaming once to my mom that i was almost kidnapped lol when i was walking in an alley way where there was one of those vans. also pointed out a few times to my mom that i was scared bc there were latino guys outside. also thought black guys looked 'creepy' and that they were probs criminals.

Maybe. I had no idea about race as a kid.. It's just some people on TV looked different from me (white people, black people, Indian people etc). I would laugh at race jokes..
By age 11-12 after moving to a new country, I got to see people of different ethnicities I thought it was cool seeing different people I see on TV, by my teenage years I still laughed at race jokes.. I befriended mostly other foreigners. Mainly Indians and Africans becausly I could relate to them, weird thing is I didn't relate to people from my own country.

Simple lack of experience, probably. When I was a kid, I also did some unintentionally racist things. When I was very little, I once tried to rub the black off of a woman, because I just had no frame of reference or understanding about what other races were. And when I was a little bit older in Elementary school, a girl asked to be my girlfriend and I said no because she was black. Again, that's just because I had no experience with people of other races, so it seemed unusual. Now that I'm older and have been around many different types of people, it's easy to see why that way of thinking was flawed. It also probably didn't help that I grew up in a casually racist family, but lack of experience is what I generally believe to be the biggest issue in most cases.
As others said, kids don't know. As a kid, I remember saying something terrible to someone at school that would be considered racist... something that I just heard other kids say. The boy hurt my feelings and I blew up at him. Still feel bad about to this day.
Personally, I wasn't. I've never been. I've had some ignorant moments but never racist. Growing up around the world meeting new people from different races, different ethnicities and backgrounds was enough for me to know what was wrong and right and how to be accepting of different races and so on.

You were a kid. Kids are dumb. I think you were just over simplifying. Your kid brain just assumed that people who look alike should be together, but that’s not how love works. You probably saw it a lot in tv shows and cartoons. A lot of cartoons love making couples that look exactly the same.
Pretty sure I wasn't, though I might have had a similar thought process. Kids are still learning the world around them so it's not unreasonable for them to think that only alike things should go together.

My favorite Superhero was Thor. Superman, Tarzan, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, the Lone Ranger, etc., were all the heroes/leading men of my youth. There wasn't any non-"White" heroes to look up to.
So I grew up thinking that non-"Whites" were not capable of being leaders or heroes. I didn't really become aware my brain-washing until I was in college.

no my first crush was on a cute little black boy we was in the 2nd grade, i dont think about race, i just see a person, i love the diff races and languages and cultures... life would be boring without it, were all human, wish we could appreciate the differences in each other, as we do the different flowers.
Never. But i was a religious kid. So i was a homophobic and a transphobic. Though i never understood why i hated those people and i never hurt them in anyway. But I definitely changed my belief as i got older and formed by own beliefs

I need to confess something. I am soon to be 24 years old guy. And I am racist. I want to get rid of this side of mine. I want to see everyone as equal. My dad learned from my sister that I am a racist. I am Turkish and I hate that I am racist. Many people will see me as mid-Eastern, and I wouldn't let that happen to me. I hope I will be free from feeling such shame about myself.

No, I actually I have been taught to be racist by the Left. I am white so it is a matter of fighting back as they only discriminate against whites as opposed to treating everyone the same. Their whole premise is that white should be discriminated against instead of treating everyone the same.
There is no reason to promote interracial when it is anything but a good choice. Loving your own kind is the only way to have any self-confidence - if you want another type, something is off with your self-image.
I don't think that counts as racism, more as you saw something new and it confused you.

The eight year old mind doesn’t work like that of an adult. It does spot patterns, well, though, so it’s most likely that you saw something out of what the ordinary pattern was in your life and commented on it.

You weren't necessarily racist, you just didn't know any different.
Not really, my parents made sure we were open about all types of people, regardless of their faith, gender or religion. So I’ve always enjoyed that diversity.
