Is it your partners job to motivate you? Or considering you’re an adult, should you do that for yourself?

Believing in a partner and cheering that partner on is one thing; pushing someone to meet what you see as that person's potential is another thing. People are going to do what they choose to do. If you don't like what you see, keep looking elsewhere, but don't expect people to change for you. You can set the stage or entice, but back off if they don't take it from there. Understand it isn't about what should be... but what people choose. Men are not lumps of clay to be molded by women... just like women don't appreciate men attempting to mold them.

We are our own responsibility, and need to find motivation within ourselves.

It's not a job/duty. It's what they're supposed to do as a partner and if they love us. We friends hear each other out and motivate each other. This is no different. If your partner doesn't motivate you, it means he/she doesn't give a about you

Or seek counseling. I also try reading self help books to help motivate me.
