Of course. You lose your sense of self eventually. If a partner is unable to see you as a strong, independent individual that needs supervising, just move back to your mom. You don't need that kind of energy in your adult life. People are controlling because they can. They do so because they know you are easily manipulated and that gives them power. Establish boundaries early on. If you let it slide, it's going to get harder the longer you wait. I suggest you have a talk the next time you are being controlled. Warn them that it has to stop or else you're out.
