What is your take on religion?

- Atheism is just like a religion in the way you live your life and how you how view reality and your the world you live in. It's also like religion and a system based on beliefs because athiest dont believe in God but just like religion... nether can prove either is true. Religion can't prove there is a God and Athiest will never prove there is no God because that is physically impossible. With the belief in God you have meaning and purpose... athiest belive everything came from nothing and a magical explosion that came from nothingness created are universe and many other universes... in reality that sound not very scientific or realistic kinda like some religious text say some ridiculous clams and statements. Religion is almost entirely positive if interpreted correctly whether God is real or not. Atheism is just a bunch of people that hate or dont like or agree that everything came from God. But no matter what the truth is... it is the way it is and nothing can change that... there either is a God or there is no God. I myself am an agnostic and belief anything is possible even maybe a God... but there is no way to be sure about anything in this world. I think you need to be a critical thinking and be open to anything instead of just saying no because it doesn't make since to you yet.Is this still revelant?
I grew up a baptist and I get what christians see or believe I understand it trust me, I just choose to believe it’s all bogus.
I believe every religion and belief system is corrupted and worshipped or awknowleged as how one want to believe it to be wether you Christian, Muslim, Catholic or any religion or theist or athiest believer or disbeliever. I believe religion was created to make people have a tool/tools to understand things and have answers. I think athiest exist because of there have been numerous false Gods in other religions in the past and there is some unrealistic things written in the Bible or Qur'an and many other "Holy" books. Truth is religion is misunderstood and people worship in ways they see fit more then the way it says so in Religious texts. In reality every popularized religious text just says to be a good person and not to be greedy of sinful and live happy and peaceful. But now religion has been adopted to be whatever they want or choose it to be. Atheism is almost Nihilism and believing everything came from nothing and nothing has true meaning or purpose. I dont like belief systems.
- you're not going to 'prove' to them that their religion is false. If nothing else, they can always fall back on any evidence you provide being faked by the devil or whatever.
I used to be religious, but after a while noticed that there was no evidence of a god, but a ton of evidence that people tend to act on wishful thinking, whether its true or not. The actual existence of a god is unnecessary to explain anything at all, including the behavior of religious people. That, I think, is the most convincing evidence against a god: that the behavior of religious people can be explained in completely natural terms. Is this still revelant?I’m by no means trying to push atheism on anyone just curious really in what makes people believe what they believe, I believe in science and facts.
in a word, insecurity. We are a painfully insecure species. Religious people tend to build their entire self esteem around their religion. You mess with it, and you are messing with their self-worth.

- Religion has the power to do a lot of good and a lot of bad, but only because people have the capability of doing a lot of good and a lot of bad. Atheism could very easily be misused in the same way religion has, just look at Stalin! My favourite quote about religion is "Having a religion is like having a dick. It's okay to have one, it's okay to be proud of it just don't shove it in my face. But, thats a bit of advice I'd give to atheists as well.
Signed,
An AgnosticIs this still revelant? - I was an atheist and now God is my best friend. We all have are different places and times in life. Don't let anyone tell you what you should be believing or doing. What they should be telling you is how AWESOME GOD and praying He works in your life in His will not their expectations. Is this still revelant?
So praying may work, or it may not. If it works then God is great, if not then the Lord moves in mysterious ways. In other words, praying works exactly as well as not praying.
- Nonsense.
I'm a Gnostic Atheist - the failure and unwillingness of theists to prove their claims is indeed evidence that they are false.
Fortunately, living in the UK where the majority are Atheists, (At least the younger generations) this isn't a problem for me.Is this still revelant?I live in Oklahoma and when someone finds out you’re an atheist it’s like you’re their devil himself and everyone wants to argue about how their religion is right.

1025- I was raised a devout Catholic, however after traveling to a polytheistic I lost faith. I thought it was silly to see Taoists offer food to "made up gods". But than I thought to myself, "If I don't believe in THEIR gods, than how can I believe in the Christian god." What makes MY God, real and THEIR'S fake? I eventually reached the conclusion that if ONE god exists, they ALL have to exist. And since I don't believe in Taoist or Hindu gods, logically I cannot believe in MY God. Therefore, I concluded that there are no such thing as gods. They were all invented by people as a way to explain the unexplainable.

I agree with this a lot I mean it makes since, I feel like religion is a fall back, having a bad day? Blame it on something other then yourself, having a good day say it’s because “god” let you have One. I feel like I owe my happiness and troubles to myself, no one can make me happy or upset other then my own mind. No one can “bless” me with a house, money, car, I do that, I go to work and buy them myself. I don't know I feel like some people don’t accept that your own happiness comes from yourself.
I agree. I can't stand those Christians who believe that EVERYTHING that happens to them is God's will, even if they lose an eye.
We are in charge of our own destiny. God has nothing to do with it. If God exists, why does he allow bad stuff to happened to his followers? Please if you where to become a all powerful God you would become dis illsioned. You would no longer be a human or think or behave in a humanly way. You wouldn't care about money, fame, power, death, humans, celebrities or anything you care about at all. We humans live in a grand illusion and its how we live are entire lives. In reality we idolize money and celebties, sex and the small and unimportant things. If you where a God non of this would matter. People dying wouldn't matter. People being born wouldn't matter or be important, Money, Fame, power, success non of that would matter anymore. When Athiest use the well God doesn't take care of me or others and I earn everything myself and so does every body else earn everything they get argument is not a good argument. Maybe if there is a God maybe human things like life and death and poverty dont mean anything. Maybe the meaning for life is the beauty of nature and the universe... I don't know really its anybody's guess.

I wasn’t using it as an argument? 🤔 I was simply stating that I make my own happiness those were just the easiest situations to explain. Heck if I was a god I’d create a universe and every time I felt like starting over I’d just flood it. 😂 all the “innocents” would just be collateral damage.
- Freedom of being human.
As long as you do it for yourself and don't hurt or take away the freedom of others in any way except it's what they want (they take their own freedom themselves without an outside force) everybody can do whatever they want.
That's not only for religion.ReactLike

- I'm a polytheistic but that is mostly because its as spiritually my scientific brain can go. As I simply see too many flaws with monotheistic ideas. And I like the idea of spirituality and the idea of a higher being just not a single all mighty being.React

- If religion was banned from schools, brainwashing children, religion would reasonably soon die out. They also seem to be confused with faith & fact. It is faith, as there is no evidence at all, but people in the bible belt (from what I can tell as I'm from UK) treat it as fact. If there is a God, the simulation theory is much more plausible than an all-knowing all-powerful creator who is also responsible for so much suffering in the world.React

See when stuff like that happens I just hope these dr’s actually payed attention in class and didn’t cheat 😂 heck donate blood, money, time. Praying is a scape goat to feel like you’re helping when you’re not.
- Anonymous+1 yI'm spiritually Christian, and I try to respect everyone's beliefs (or lack of). I only get offended when someone verbally attacks my beliefs out of hatred.React

Then what’s an atheist to do when we get attacked by Christians or any other religion just because we chose not to believe?
- Mostly non believer, altho Ugh I admire people. of faith.
I think religion is a business that started out of fear and the unexplainable.
There are zealots of each religion and non religious, who believe thier way is the only way.
Religion is the foundation of most war and drives hate as much as love.
People need a sense of belonging and direction, religion gives them that.ReactLike

- YOU HAVE THE RIGHT IF YOU HAVE THE POWER TO REFUSE. I was brought up with the idea that I had a choice, My Mother and Father never made me choose something I had No Knowledge of. You can not force a feeling on some one. My Mum makes the most sense of it like this, You believe Jesus H. Christ died for your sins. Great, now you're forgiven. Get On With Your Life.React

Sorry I was just saying there are so many controversial things in the Bible, to me it’s like a giant story book and someone decided they wanted to make it a religion. Heck it’d be like me grabbing 50 shades of grey and saying well he said this but right now I want it to mean this and apply it to my life. 😂 I don't know my opinion I guess
We don't choose to be atheist. We become an atheist when we find ourselves unable to believe in God because we see no evidence. Some people don't need evidence to believe things, feelings are enough. Feelings aren't enough for atheists. We don't care if we're the only atheist in a town of one million, we still have to be convinced by force of evidence. The evidence isn't there. To us it's all just old made-up stories. My position is that I know nothing about God but I know just as much as anyone else who has ever lived. In other words, there are no true prophets.
- Well, I'm Jewish so I guess I'm fine with religion.
I try to respect people's religious beliefs, as long as they don't result in the prospect of harm to another person. Most people I know are complete atheists, I'm fine with that.ReactLike

- Religion divides people. Creates barriers. Divisions. Wedge between people. Leads to war and what not!
I think it's high time to stop all these bullshit and listen to people... and go for a single religion. That of humanity and love.
