Do females who follow Islam wear the hijab because they think it makes men less likely to catcall or sexual harass them?

  • I've asked this question so many times with real people... and have heard numerous opinions about It
They generally say its to be closer to their faith, to be modest, to represent the modern muslim that can be self sufficient and independent and not be afraid to do what she wants to do

but the reality is thats just an excuse... the real reasons normally are
    1. because she is conditioned to believe its the way a women should be
    2. she's doing it for a reward from Allah> its a bribe from the Quran. If you do this or that you will be rewarded this or that

  • A Muslim woman i used to work with said she wears it because her husband wants her to. She said she is happy to to do as he asks, because he is the head of her household. She also stated that it is the man of the households decision, whether the women of the family cover their entire face, or if they only show their eyes, or if they just cover their hair. She said only her husband was allowed to see her without her head covering. She didn't feel oppressed in anyway

  • No, most women wear the Hijab because it's a thing in their family, and some women wear it because then they can wear anything underneath and not have to worry about how they would look

To clear some misunderstandings, Hijab is not part of the Quran, the Quran only demands that women cover their vagina and nipples, and wear a loose robe when outside of the home. The verse about covering the nipples has been poorly translated into making it seem as if the Quran is demanding that a woman covers her head, the Quran demands that the woman covers the top of her breasts, and the top of a woman's breasts is not her head but her nipples, because breasts are directed forward and not upward. Also a woman can be completely naked around her immediate family and extended family, as well as around children who haven't hit puberty

Technically a Muslim woman can dress like this in public according to the Quran, and Muslim women dressed like this back in the era of the prophet Mohammad

  • no, they mostly do it, cause their religion says it. they don't question it further. they don't think for a second that their believe was made up by men trying to oppress women xD they genuinely don't feel it is oppressive, cause they think it's just what their religion wants. a little bit like the jewish kippah.

  • I asked my Muslim friend about this ( cause he is very religious).
He said because men look at their boobs and butts , and that's why they need to wear it.
Just because men look at them they need to cover themselves lolz

  • Islam does not require women to wear the Hijab or Burqa, also known as Chadri or Paranja, it tells only that both men and women to behave modestly and contains no precise prescription for how women should dress.
Veils are more of a cultural convention originally part of women's dress among certain classes in the Byzantine Empire before being adopted into Muslim culture during the Arab conquest of the Middle East.
Most Islamic scholars and most contemporary Islamic jurists have agreed that women are not required to cover their face.

    • no, the Quran does not dictate that at all

    • @zuricose It does not outright say hijab it has other words used for the same kind of clothing.

    • I have a myTake written on this to clarify what the Quran really means

  • Muslim men get so horny when they see hair, so they have "sexual emergencies", as we've seen in Europe time and time again.

  • no the hijab comes from the fallen angels

they are very attracted to female hair not sure why (ass is better)
and humans and angels are not allowed to have sex
the hijab is for the angels

    1 Corinthians 11:10
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

    • ya but you don't have to be muslim to understand islam and the culture right?

    • Show All
    • yes but again, it doesn't take a muslim to understand the culture and religion right? ... you are giving people little credit. Smart people don' get their information from the media.. thats not how it works lol
they actually read the Quran, many actually live in muslim cultures and live side by side with muslims in a certain region... many have friends... many study the facts from difference parts of the world

nothing to do with media... thats only for the uneducated that sit on the tube and listen to everything they tell you
and that goes for the trump haters too which they all get from the media right? im sure you hate trump, but thats from the media lol if you do your homework, you'd realize he's not what the media says

    • Yes it doesn't take a Muslim but there are few people who can answer such a question related to this topic especially Islam correctly. The media has a big role in impacting what people think about a certain thing. You ask someone who's on social media all day about Islam what will he say? Bombs goatfuckers desert opression. The same thing over and over and over again. Very few people decide to actually make a research about what they see on the social media. Cause why would they? Plus i hate all superpower countries.
