Why is Jesus usually called "Jesus Christ" instead of "Christ Jesus"?

As most of you probably know, "Christ" isn't a last name; it's a title meaning "Messiah". However, typically titles are placed in front of names - like Dr, Mrs, Ms, and Mr come before a name, not after it. On a religious level, God is called "Father God" not "God Father", etc.

Can anyone explain why Jesus's title is typically placed AFTER his name? I know it's that way in the Bible, but it just confuses me.
