It could be genetics, but it could also be because you have low self-esteem, so all you see in yourself is flaws. What you see in the mirror may not be how everyone else sees you. I'd say the latter is highly likely to be the reason why you think you're not pretty.

The second one most likely and also your choices. I find people who take care of themselves attractive. doesn't mean makeup. Taking care could mean eating healthy, exercise, taking a bath always, etc. Also, confidence, kindness and intelligence is very attractive.

If you're truly not pretty I'd say its b/c of genetics and / or poor life choices if you don't take care of yourself. Most people at their best are somewhat nice looking
