So how do all of y'all talk about going to hell for eternal torture and pain?
Am I missing something

So in short if I want to be sure to not go to hell I just believe in jesus and I'm home free... neat...
@Virgo31 yeah I really don't know I just heard this preacher (or something) on tv and I went to change the channel but I got the part about forgive everything and I remembered a long fight with this guy who said I can't fuck my boyfriend. I didn't for a week but that turned my current life to hell...
Yea, something like that.
Although there is also a part where God will still judge you.
I don't know the specifics and stuff is contracting each other.
If you google on it or ask someone who works in the field (preacher, monk, w. e.) you'll probably find more than you will get from here.
Yeah well... I don't really... but I just got confused and I learned quite enough from this lol. But thanks again
You sound like a 13 year old wannabe atheist that just discovered Richard Dawkins. Your explanation is extremely simplistic, to say the least. At no point in the Bible does God support violence. It is also older than the Christianity, it even warns about the rise of organised religion.
Hell is also a metaphor if anything. That's where you get in life when you stray from your true nature. Also, you can think of God's punishments of the masses of people as Natural selection. In fact, to think of a God as a person is extremely childish, since God IS the world
Aside your pointless invectives, you didn't even tried to hit the core message of my opinion above. God is god and he didn't wrote the bible, specific group of people wrote and modified that book over millennia. Now explain me who gains advantages with hell/heaven concept? Is this omnipotent god who can seemingly do and act like he wants, or mortal and presumptuous "shamans" who crave to have control about what people think and do?
@EssenceOfLight "God" is simply a term used to personify the existence itself. Naturally, if you think of humans as something that is different than the nature, then God didn't wrote the Bible.
Heaven is called many different things in different cultures and religions (Nirvana, Valhalla, Aaru...). And it's a state of peace, when an individual accepts his/her role in life and mortality. Hell is a state of mind that's in constant battle with itself. A mind that is always seeking the escape from the inevitable. Those concepts are much older than the Christianity. People were always craving power and control, and they would use any excuse gain it, even Bible. Obviously, it was used by organised religions for at least one millenia to control people. But that has nothing to do with the concepts in the Bible. If anything, it warned us about tyranny with the stories about Herod and Moses. I'm not even religious, but your statements are pure misunderstandings of what is arguably the greatest book ever. I also don't get why you call priests shamans... Very different professions...
