Is religion a deal breaker for you?

As an Christian orthodox I don't like it at all when people say bad things about my religion. I respect your beliefs and I don't try to change them so I want you to do the same.
I was in a relationship with an atheist and things got weird so when I met my current boyfriend I was very reluctant in the beginning but when religion was brought to the table and he told me that he is a Christian orthodox as well I felt relief.
Later, in our relationship he confused to me that he saw that I was wearing a cross and he was glad because he too was in a relationship with an atheist and it didn't work out.
So, is religion a deal breaker for you?

I mean I am a christian... but a 'lax one' meaning I believe - but in my own way - I was made to go catholic school from the age of 4-15 (I moved for 6th form) and looking back it was not an environment I would want my children to go to - so if I was dating someone who's whole life revolved around religion we wouldn't be right for each other.
I think someone who has a religion and someone who doesn't (and different religions) can be together if their faith is somewhat muted - however if it is an important aspect of your life and you see it being integral to your future I think the clash is too big

I'm yet to meet an atheist who actually can respect another human being and who isn't arrogant and mean.
All the atheists I've met are pushy people who are very egotistic. Sorry if I'm being Blunt, this ismu opinion on atheists.
So yes, I would date anyone who belongs to some other religion, but not an atheist.
Forgot to add, atheists are very dishonest and also they can lie very well with no guilt at all.

I expect a guy to be open minded to spiritual ideas and be conservative and pious but his religion does not matter and his morals are what I consider to be important

I don't think is a deal brake for me, but still want a religios ceremony to marry, for funerars, for baptaising my kids and so on...
I'm olso Christian Orthodox and i had never been in a relationship whit any other religion, i simply didn't get in a relationship whit a diferent person but the fact that person is not same religion like me don't stop me to date them and make them my girlfriend and who know what God plan for us, mabey she change for me, mabe the future will be diferent for us and so on...
I know case about thiferent religion relationship whit happy ending as well :)

It's a moot point for me, since I married a woman who is also a traditional Catholic.

After I graduated college, I simply preferred to date and marry a Catholic. After I started to become more traditional, it was dang near a requirement for her to be a faithful, practicing, and orthodox Catholic. If she was not, she would have had to have been super special in some way for me to pursue anything more than friendship with her.

If you have differing beliefs, you'll have more arguments. With all due respect, I consider someone with access to 21st century information who still believes in fatuous superstition to be willfully ignorant, content with living in the past and incapable of recognising rationality. Therefore religion is a deal breaker for me unless the other person is willing to either keep their archaic superstition to themselves or be open to the likelihood their beliefs are wrong.

Yes, it is. I have no trouble being friends with people who don't support my beliefs but when it comes to a partner, it's more difficult the more serious the relationship gets, as you can have serious clashes. I prefer a partner who is also a christian.

I enjoy debating about anything so I gladly talk to anyone of a different religion, as for dating wise though, mm it depends really some religions just aren't compitable with American's and some are. As for me I am a Christian, not sure what type but all I know is that i am one. So if someone I was dating was catholic or Muslim, I wish to learn more about there religion and compare and contrast them to my own. Other than that as long as she doesn't try to change my daily life, we should be fine

Yes, religion definitely could be a deal breaker for me. That would depend on the religion and just how devoted or wrapped up in it she was. I strongly doubt I could get along with an orthodox "anything". It's too much for me. It's also very unlikely I would ever have met someone like that when it came to dating.

Tough shit. When the whole premise of your religion, is telling people they're going to burn in hell unless they convent and abandon their own beliefs then you have to expect some backlash.

It's not a deal breaker, but it's harder. My ex-wife is a Christian and I've always been agnostic. I don't believe in God, but I'm open minded enough to admit I could be wrong.

It was hard for her because church was an important part of her life that I wasn't comfortable sharing.

It's not normally a deal breaker unless they are pressuring me to convert me to theirs and they don't accept me as I am. It could also be a deal breaker if their beliefs are extreme to me, for example if they believe the earth is flat.

Nope, religion is not a dealbreaker for me, I just don't like people who take Jesus's name in vain that is not good for me and I been praying more , trying to stay closer to Jesus

I think it's better to be in a relationship with someone who at least worships the same god as you do. Whether it's in the same way, as there's a bunch of different ways to say you're a Christian, is really up to you if it's a deal breaker.
