From the beginning...At the beginning of the school year, my mom enrolled me to...lets call it M High school. This school had many problems with it and many stereotypes. It was low income, so school resources and learning opportunities and choices were not that much available. it had a bad student population, bad meaning cutting classes, ditching school, mouthing off to the teacher, gangs, violence, closed- minded, and not hard working. The school also had statistics stating that graduation rate was lower than 60%, college admission rate even lower, and a very high drop-out rate. I was so sure that I wanted to transfer to...lets call it L High school. According to my mom, this school had everything, from vast amounts of student resources and learning opportunities and choices, great student population, great meaning that every student was believed to be a hard worker, non-violent, respectful, thoughtful, open-minded. This school seemed like it had everything I ever wanted. Then I bonded with some good students in a sea of rotten ones and some of the best teachers I've had since elementary school. All the teachers and friends I have in M High school all wanted me to stay, all for different reasons; "stay because I'll miss you", "stay because your friends will miss you", "stay because this school teaches you more about life", "stay because you have good friends here"...etc. etc. For a long time I've ignored my moms persistence about switching schools and ignored my friends complaints and pleads as to why I should stay. But the end of the school year is drawing near and the deadline for applications to L High school is also near, so I need to answer fast. I've been so conflicted about this since I've always been afraid to leave my friends for any distance, even a small one such as a different school in the district.
