Honestly, I find this hilarious.

Insurance companies finally classified it as 'cosmetic procedure' and that it's a waste of money for them, so they no longer pay. Pretty cool in my opinion.

I also find it hilarious that they claim everyone will get AIDS as a result. Hello? Condoms? Not getting laid with everyone on the first day of meeting them and having 500 partners a year?

Whatever. Despite the article's health scare bias, I find it overall funny how this whole thing is just as important as much money people can spare from their pockets.

What do you think? Do you also find it funny, but also awesome that money speaks and causes great cultural changes for the benefit of the male population?

But to be honest, she kinda makes a point about polygamy.

If we don't ban circumcision merely because it's "part of jewish and muslim culture" ( content.time.com/.../0,8599,2077240,00.html ), then why exactly is polygamy banned even though it's part of muslim culture (and a male is supposedly allowed to have 5 wives as long as he can provide for them)?

By the same logic, it should be allowed because they can't properly practice their religion. Although I'd rather just ban circumcision as well altogether, but most people know that by now.

Honestly, I don't have any strong feelings about polygamy, nor am I really interested in being deeply emotionally invested in multiple people. There's only so much love you can concentrate on one person. So I'm not really against it, but I'm also not for it, I'm perfectly neutral on this matter.

So what do you think, should polygamy be legal based on religious practices and tradition?

A severely mentally incompetent adult is legally in the same position as a child. The guardian can make all the decisions that could be made for a child: what he eats, where he lives, etc. Obviously, there are limits to ‘parental’ rights: you’re not allowed to be physically violent, for example.

However, there is one controversial point. If performing or authorizing medically unnecessary circumcision on a baby boy is legal, then surely it should be legal to perform or authorize it for a mentally incompetent adult male. There’s no good argument that I can see for making it legal for children but not for mentally incompetent adults. In fact, in one sense, you could perhaps justify it for a mentally incompetent adult male in a way that you could not for an ordinary baby boy: the adult is always going to be mentally incompetent, unlike the ordinary baby boy who may grow up to regret it.
