Nelson is 17 and his friend Quan is 18. Sometimes Nelson goes to church with Quan and his mother Maria. Maria ( Quan's mother) is a devoted Christian woman and single mother. She had a few abortions, dated the wrong guys but she turned her life around and went to college to be a nurse. When she first met Nelson, he bought cookies and was very nice and polite. She thought Nelson was a great kid and started taking him to church, teaching him about God and talking with his parents about going to church. Nelson loved going to church and often had fun with the little kids, helped with setting up church, helped clean, cook and other things for the church. Maria started telling Nelson about how God hates gays, gays are evil, she hates gays, how they are all going to hell and God will send you to burn if you are gay. There was also a video shown on how gays were disgusting and going to hell. Nelson's eyes swelled up with tears and Maria asked Nelson what was wrong Nelson just started to snivel up, he stood up and sprinted to the bathroom. He cried and whimpered for 6 minutes, came out and said he wanted to go home.
