Looking for diverse opinions and discussion.

I'm in a comitted relationship right now and feel like being faithful and honest are some of the best virtues you can have, but I've always carried this weight of doubt in comitted relationships. It's not that I have the desire to stray, I always just feel like one person is going to lose interest after a while or things will go stale. It makes me wonder what the point of monogamy is. I feel like if faithfulness and comittment weren't so heavily emphasized in society, people would love selflessly.

For example, it's 'human' but also selfish for you to get jealous if your girlfriend/boyfriend is hanging out or talking to another person you deem a threat. It implies you don't really love them if you don't truly want them to be happy, which may or may not be with you. You want to cut them off from potentially finding another partner that could make them happier because they make you happy.

My views in life lean more on the conservative side but I do get philosophical from time to time and question what the point of relationships are or if love even exists.

I've known him for a long time , he's always contacting me and saying he likes me, but also says he's not sure he wants anything serious right now.. due to recently being divorced.
I sometimes feel like he thinks he can just contact me whenever he feels like and I'm always there, aswell as get the benefits of our friendship without any strings attached.
His family like me and he knows it.
Do you think if I am more firm with him he may change his mind about comittment?
