My marriage is in trouble. Seven years ago I went to help my very distant cousin, his mother was dying and as a farmer, he had no idea how to nurse her. His mother died and as I was leaving he asked me to stay. We got married a short time later and my family always said that my decline in health was due to nursing his mother.

Since I got sicker my doctor told me to hire someone to help me with work around the house. We don't have much money so I couldn't afford to hire anyone. Soon after, my aunt and uncle died leaving my cousin orphaned. We took her in because she had no where else to go and I needed a person to help me.

Ever since my cousin, Mattie, came my husband has been shaving every morning. I think he is trying to impress her. He never did that for me. He lives for the times he has to take her into town. I was going out of town a little while ago and he lied to me about a job he had to do instead of driving me to the train station.

I don't know what to do. Is there something I should do better to keep my husband interested? Should I kick my cousin out. Should I break off my marriage? Should I confront my husband about his increased interest in Mattie? And if so what do I say.
