I ask because for some reason, some women consider this sexist, apparently. In fairness, my town has one of the highest lesbian populations in the country. Many are cool, but even more are the man-hating type who you can do no right with, and i wonder if its skewing my perception, haha.

But I was raised to:
-Open all doors and car doors
-Pull out her chair when you sit down at a restaurant
-Give her your coat when she's cold
-Help her into/out of her coat/sweater
-Pick up any item she drops
-Carry anything heavy for her
-Take her hand/offer an arm on stairs, stepping off curbs, walking on snow or ice
-Walk on the outside closest to the street on the sidewalk to shield her from being splashed by puddles

I feel like that's still appreciated by a lot of girls, but I feel like some take offense to it now, or at least think its weird. I don't do it because I think they're incapable, I was just taught that you treat all women gently and politely. In fairness, my parents were both born in the 1930s, and that's who taught me. I'm curious to see what the climate is on this.

And remember, this applies to ANY woman of ANY age, not just a girlfriend.

What would be a good first date Idea for someone my age?

As in high school going out to a nice lunch then ice skating, usually worked pretty well?
Is that still ok, as there's physical contact & if its awkward we can always skate a bit. I also feel that that I'm pretty good when it come to physical aspects of first dates, i.e. arms around her etc more than I'm at making conversation

But now, should I go out for dinner or drinks or something? As lunch & ice skating might seem a bit immature.

But to be honest, I've been on dinner dates but I never really felt that connected to these people after these though.

So what do you think?
by the way: The legal age of drinking here is 18

a lot of people have been taking it out on miley this week for her revealing performance and saying she used to be so sweet and innocent and a role model but I'd say from what I've seen over the years its pretty common for girls to lose the sweet and innocent status by later in high school or college age . I know girls who at 17 were lets say working as cute ice cream servers but by 19 age to go to bar here there suddenly drinking , fooling around with guys and getting body piercings . I see it all the time girls hit an age where they change and start doing things you never though they'd do like get a tattoo or sexual things . so I don't think what happened to miley was really that uncommon and happens to a lot of girls that age
