What is your perception of what being shallow means, in terms of relationships, dating, etc. ?

I was having this convo with a friend and explaining that I think the word shallow is thrown around unnecessarily by people who have been perceived as "less than" in some way by society and have been affected by this seriously in their lives. they have this thing about them and when anyone expresses that they aren't particularly attracted to that thing, these self-identified victims will call them "shallow." If being shallow follows the literal definition of "lacking in depth knowledge, thought, or feeling," it makes the casual flinging around of the word even more ridiculous. if someone is not physically attracted to you, so you call them shallow by this definition, you are not showing an in depth understanding of human beings, yourself. one can possess depth of knowledge, thought, or feeling and still only want to be in a physically/romantically intimate relationship with people to whom they are physically attracted.

I have a lot of depth. lol And I'm not into guys whom I consider to be ugly, unattractive physically, etc. This doesn't mean that I don't want to get to know them and learn things about who they are, but I just don't want to be physically intimate or sexual with them which is what separates a romantic relationship from a friendship, at least for me.
