Search Results: interest in a computer guy

I have female friends who are in Chemistry, are Math majors, love computers, etc. I dated a girl who was Pre-Med, and the conversations were fantastic. It's great when you can share these kinds of passions with your partner.

These women are all brilliant in their fields. Heck, the girl I knew in advanced differential equations routinely blasted through the subjects with ease. I notice women to particularly well in more abstract areas like algebra, diff. EQ, and Chemistry.

But still, I notice women seem to have quite an aversion to science/math/tech. I've noticed for a lot of girls I've been around, if their laptop breaks or their car won't start, they'll just hand it over to me with no intention of learning how to fix it themselves. One phrase I hear a lot is "Where's a boy? My car is broken. Where's a boy to fix it?"

In discussions, it's often taken as a personal offense to even bring up mathematical or scientific philosophy. Eyes roll, and suddenly their interest stoops so low it's as though they are thinking "I thought he was an interesting guy, now I realize he doesn't have a life". All while she puts on 3-D glasses and calls herself a "nerd girl".

Why is this? Why all the aversion? It's amazingly attractive when you are scientifically-literate, and it helps empower you in incredible ways. If you learn it for yourself, you no longer 'need a man' to fix things for you, but have the ability to take charge yourself.

As for the poll, I'm just interested to see everyone's stance on science/math/tech.
