My boyfriend insisted we would not do gifts for Christmas, because he usually doesn't receive anything he likes and he just finds it a waste of his money to give something I won't like that much anyway. But the way I see it, the value of a gift lies in the meaning behind it, e. g. when you write a very personal letter and give a rose with it. It's just about valuing someone, doing something special for him and it's not about the money at all.. even a sweet kiss can be a great gift. Same goes for going out for dinner, my boyfriend hates it because it's always too expensive.. everything is always too expensive. I know it sounds silly but it just sounds like money is all that is on his mind, or is it just me? Even a small simple rose would be too much for him. Is this just the way he is or is he a surreal douchebag that doesn't give a shit about me at all?

I've had a guy friend for almost 2 years now.

In the fall we went to an event together, although I'm in a serious relationship with someone else, it felt like a date. He was really chivalrous and something clicked. I realized I had feelings for my friend. Over the next few days I analyzed our friendship (texts, FB etc.) I noted some signs he MIGHT also have feelings for me. I recalled a time he had sent me a romantic song to listen to, and was a bit anxious for me to listen to it. I told him it was beautiful but did not want to probe him for meaning at the time it was sent, or open any doors, since I was in a serious relationship.

After realizing my feelings, I tried to arrange a meeting to talk to him about them. he was unable to meet but really wanted to know what I needed to talk about. I texted him that I have feelings for him and that it would be fine if he had zero feelings back, I just wanted to be honest and figure things out.

his immediate reply was "lol are you serious?" I confirmed, yes. He then said he'd like to forget the matter came up and have things go back to normal. Later that evening he sent a softer more "don't worry about it, it happens" kind of response.

Since then, we saw each other around college as friends a few times, he always held doors for me etc.

Then, over 2 months from when the text exchange occurred he asked me to meet him to help with some school. By this time I had almost forgotten my feelings. When I met him this time he'd had more than a few drinks and was being affectionate (gave me a big hug, kissed me on the cheek, and put his arm around me) I told him I didn't want him to do anything he'd regret while drinking, he confirmed he wouldn't. He kissed me, slow, long, no tongue and alluded to wanting to go further. We have not talked toomuch since. I tried to ask how long he'd been attracted to me and he 'LOL don't ask that type of question" to that. Any insight?
