Canada is a very interesting place if trees and rocks are interesting to you. I know a Canadian and they said that there's a giant ice sheet called "The Northern Territory" there and below that there are a few major settlements and beyond that a bunch of trees. Now I don't know much about Canadian politics but I presume that they use longhouses because they live in the woods. This ancient gem of a hunter / gatherer society needs protection so I think America, rather than France who isn't even on the same continent, as with Britain, should assume total responsibility for caring for ( and annexing ) our Neighbors to the North.

Their lives of limited understanding of electricity and primitive festivals dedicated to meat and this forced "Boxing Day" should be left untouched of course but what greater place to protect than a country where less than 20% of it's landmass contains human civilization and where the population of the country per square mile is is 1/189mis. Yes, they could all have small empires. Every citizen. All without touching.
