'Thank you for your service,' he said, before hurling the word 'traitor' at me

On a beautiful Colorado spring day, a friend and I were having lunch at a restaurant when a middle-aged man approached our table.

He said to me, “Thank you for your service,” after noticing I had on my 82nd Airborne Paratrooper hat. I thanked him, in return, for his comment.

Then, the man pointed to the Joe Biden pin on my sweatshirt and said, “Traitor!” He was gone in a flash and my friend and I looked at each other, stunned.

Perhaps I should not have been stunned by his abrupt parting comment. The nation has been locked in a war of words over political ideology since Donald Trump ran for president against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Many Americans have had similar hostile comments lobbed at them over what they're wearing, what they look like, even how they speak.

But who are the real traitors? Am I, a Mexican American military veteran who was having lunch with a friend? Is President Biden a traitor?

As you might expect, I think that, no, we are not. In my opinion, the traitors are those who stormed the nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, reportedly at former President Trump’s encouragement. In my opinion, the Capitol rioters intended to kill or do bodily harm to former Vice President Mike Pence, all Congressional officials and their staff. They intended to disrupt the democratic procedure of confirming our next, lawfully elected president. The traitors entered the Capitol illegally, caused the deaths of Capitol police, damaged property and sought to do harm to congressional leaders. They wanted to end our experiment in democracy by the people, for the people and with the people.

The Ukraine President has fled the country. He wants to end the war. He says he promises never to join NATO. He will acknowledge the two factions in Southern Ukraine.

He realizes the West was just using them as a weapon against Russia and that they don't want Ukraine in NATO.

Russia I doubt will let up because of the money spent already on war and the loss of tanks, planes , and helicopters. Plus all the soldiers that died. Plus since Ukraine is trying to make a deal. Putin will want agreement from UN that Ukraine will never join NATO. He will want no military in Ukraine. He will demand a New President and leadership in Ukraine (which means no future elections) . He will demand total control of nuclear facilities. He will also demand that there will be no more additional NATO countries. He will also want all sanctions against Russia removed.

If Putin gets all these demands , then once again he kicked everyone's ass and that he is the ruler of rulers and the king of global strategy.

We will see what happens next.

The public opinion is very clear on that question. So what we've seen is a great deal of repression within Russia, both of the mass public and a real attempt to silence elite opinion. And that's a very difficult thing to do in a country with as diverse interest as Russia has."

According to many Republicans, it’s President Joe Biden’s fault that Russia invaded Ukraine.
Republicans have turned Vladimir Putin’s invasion into a political opportunity for the party, claiming that Biden’s weakness is the reason Putin went forward with his war.

Some GOP candidates have even started fundraising off the Russian invasion. Erik Aadland, running for Congress in Colorado’s 7th District, quickly sent an email Wednesday night saying Putin was “walking all over Joe Biden just like China and Iran” and asking supporters to donate to his campaign to take the House back from Democrats.
Virginia state Sen. Bryce Reeves, also running for Congress, sent a similar email saying Putin invaded because America’s enemies “know that Joe Biden is weak and depends on the support of the Woke Democrats for his political survival.”

“Joe Biden’s weakness has helped bring the world to this point,” added Florida congressional candidate Brian Mast in his own fundraising pitch.
But as Faith Hillis, a professor of Russian history at the University of Chicago said, “What matters is that Putin denies a sovereign state’s right to exist and to make its own domestic and foreign policy. And he invaded completely unprovoked (and even without the staged provocation that many expected). This is akin to Hitler’s invasion of Poland. That’s it.”

Joe Biden Picks Ketanji Brown Jackson For The Supreme Court

President Joe Biden has chosen Ketanji Brown Jackson as his Supreme Court nominee, CNN and the Associated Press reported Friday, a decision that will delight progressives and that seals his promise to put the first Black woman onto the nation’s highest court.
Jackson, 51, was considered the front-runner to replace Justice Stephen Breyer, who announced in January that he plans to retire this summer.

Jackson has been a judge on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the D. C. Circuit since June. She previously served as a judge on the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia for eight years. She is a former public defender and was vice chair of the U. S. Sentencing Commission. She also clerked for Breyer during the 1999-2000 Supreme Court term.

Presidents regularly pluck Supreme Court nominees from the D. C. Circuit. Justices John Roberts, Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh all served on this court, as did the late Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia.

Fox News host corrects Trump after he mistakenly thought US troops were landing in Ukraine as Russia launched its attack

Shortly after former President Donald Trump was cut off during a call-in interview on Fox News on Wednesday night, he returned with a gaffe about the US military.

"You know what's also very dangerous is you told me about the amphibious attack by Americans," Trump said to the host Laura Ingraham on "The Ingraham Angle."

"No, those are the Russians," Ingraham replied.

"Oh, I thought you said that we were sending people in," Trump said, adding, "That'll be next."

Ingraham was referring to unconfirmed reports of an amphibious assault by Russian forces in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa along the Black Sea, where Russia has been conducting naval exercises in recent weeks. The Ukrainian defense ministry said Russian troops did not descend on Odesa by sea.

Earlier on the show, Ingraham cut short her interview with Trump after the former president brought up his false claims about the 2020 election.

Trump had suggested that Russia's invasion of Ukraine "all happened because of a rigged election," adding, "This would have never happened."
