I'm African American female about two shades lighter than brown skin and I've never dated a black guy before. Wanna know why? Because Y'all never approach me. I asked a family member today why she believed why black men never approach me and she told me it was because I talk proper and I act "white" which makes me unapproachable to black men. I've only dated whites and Hispanics thus far. Don't get me wrong skin color doesn't matter but I can't help but be a little curious about black men. My question today is, would you black men date a proper black girl or is it unattractive to you? Negative and positive feedback is welcome.

I am a black teen girl in high school and I have a dilemma.
In the media you see black girls/women as ghetto and without much class or decency. I, on the contrary, am quite the opposite and so are a lot of black girls.
The problem is that, with the media, a lot of guys don't seem to go for black girls not necessarily because they are racist but because of the bad stereotype that black females carry. I grew up mostly in majority white neighborhoods and when I moved to the city, majority Blacks and Hispanics, I was called an Oreo and a white girl. It seems that if your hair isn't sewed in and you don't speak the language of the ghetto, people thing you are an Oreo or "not really black".
I will not change who I am for anyone, but when guys look at me and only see a stereotype it hurts. I want to be able to be confident without coming across as "aggressive" or "loud" and to date a guy without stares and whispers. Am I the only one?
